How much freedom on a private stock?

Two questions:

1. exactly how much freedom is one allowed on a private stock build? For example, let's say that my dream guitar is essentially a satin custom 24 in charcoal ( http://www.prsguitars.com/standardsatin/ ). Since the model is not in production anymore, would the private stock folks build it?

2. If the private stock folks were to build a satin finished custom 24, do they have fixed prices or is there negotiating room?

Thanks,
Rav.

You can pretty much do what ever you want in Private Stock. PRS has set pricing. Any negotiations will only be with your Dealer.............

Are there limits Markie? If I were to ask for an SC58 with 24 frets and a 25 inch scale with a Pattern Regular rosewood neck. Can they do those kind of adjustments?

While almost anything goes if you mix and match from PRS' current/past lines, wild changes may be impossible. For example I heard that someone enquired about a lot of carbon fibre on a a PS. It was determined just too expensive for PRS to tool/skill up on such a material.

The only other things they wont consider are copyrighted items (e.g. you cant get a PS Les Paul replica) and also replicas of past PRS limited models like Dragons etc.

They absolutely can. However, because a 24 fret SC58 with a longer scale isn't typical, there will be an upcharge over base for those options. That would be a cool guitar btw!!

I am doing a DC-58 (a DC245 but SC58 thickness) with 24 frets and 24.5 inch scale with a pattern thin rosewood neck, so I don't see why they cannot do those specs.

That's nothing.

They're building me a house.

Shaped like a guitar.

We're trying to decide on the case.

I couldn't swing the cash for a whole house especially with the price of brazilian and such. Paul Miles said concrete would be cheaper

Chet Atkins said he had a pool shaped like a guitar amplifier.
