Thread resurrection!

My original version weighs 54 grams vs 49 for the non-adjustable (that's roughly 1.9 ounces for the muricans). The body is made of aluminium, the saddles are brass, and the screws are non-ferrous (probably brass.)

Anybody able to weigh (and comment on the construction of) one of the current bridges?

mine is the new version.
i can't tell you the exact weight right now 'cause it is built in with strings on it.
i guess it is aluminium with brass saddles on.
next string change i can tell you the weight.
 
Thanks fellas - perhaps the current ones are made of something else.
 
I believe it is made of aluminum and brass, but since it has more brass than even the newer one piece stop tails it is going to be heavier.
 
So I just noticed that as of this year, there are no production guitars (core anyway), that use an adjustable stoptail. They've also been removed from the prs store online. That's kinda strange. With all the P series guitars and Hollowbodys, there are plenty of the piezo equipped adjustables.

Any inside scoop on why? Also, I installed two adjustable stoptails on my Custom 22's about six months ago. The one's I received use saddles similar to the saddles used on the two piece bridge. However, the "newer" bridge shown above has saddles with angles to them, like 4 sides. Not flat like mine. Which one came first? The one pictured above in this thread or the one's I got?

Promax found it hard to believe that the original adjustable is just 5 grams heavier (.17 ounces) than the non-adjust. Here we go:

Sam I'm actually talking about a bridge that's not pictured there. The one's I have now. From what I can tell there are at least 3 versions of the adjustable bridge.

From the 1st version to 2 and 3, the amount of saddle adjustment was increased significantly. I don't know if the ball end slots being machined to hold the ball sideways so it doesn't rotate was introduced in the 2nd or 3rd versions either.
 
Sorry Chris - missed your point first time 'round. Very interesting that there's three types! I agree that yours is the latest version - makes sense that it falls in line with the look of the 2-piece (TOM) saddles. I think I've seen the second version back as far as '07.

The Tremonti has an adjustable option - it's the same version as yours.

I was super surprised that they were virtually the same too. I should also note that the adjustable is noticeably warmer sounding than the non-adjustable.

I've just weighed two adjustable bridges. The first, an original bridge, came in at 54g, confirming the figure provided by Sam. The second bridge was the newer, but apparently not the newest version because it has beveled saddles. It was 102g, so almost twice as heavy as the original. That means that it must be made of either brass or steel.
 
Thanks mate - Proxmax was right in saying "way heavier". I suppose it's worth seeing if it's magnetic - if not, it could also be zinc.
