Was wondering how many U.S. guitars are made each week. I heard it was around 200+. I believe Gibson makes 3000+ a day. Any forum members know.

I could be wrong, but I think PRS's production is about 700 a month... That was, at least it was in the late 90s. It is probably less now as they respond to the slower economy...

As for Gibson making 3000+ a day, c'mon - that doesn't pass the sniff test. Do the math... 15,000 per week? 780,000 per year? I dun thin' so.

That number is before they hit the bandsaw, right?

he he he...

I had to find out: directly from the Gibson web site:

"...Gibsons are, of course, made in Nashville, TN, and nearly all of the work involved in building the approximately 2,500 Les Pauls, Flying Vs, Explorers, SGs, Firebirds and other models made each week..."

If you look at the serial number dating on the support pages, the most recent year they have a complete range of serial numbers is 2010. They produced 11,800 guitars in 2010, or 227 per week. That's just the USA made ones, I believe they sell more SEs than they do USA guitars.

Excellent, John! I would not have thought to look there!

I got the 3000+ a day for gibson from an employee of prs Europe, but I could have got it wrong.

Three out of four. The Santana SE gets very little playing time but my 5 year old constantly asks to play it. She strums the strings open and makes up songs about ponies and stuff.
