How long to get a 408 ordered?

I am thinking about getting a 408 with these specs:
Eriza Verde color
Natural color for the side, back, and neck
Pattern Thin neck
And also setup for 9 to 42 strings, not a fan of 10s.

I would order this via Sweetwater instead of my local mom & pop shop where I have been getting my SEs from.
It has a nightmare trying to get my SE Tremonti Custom via him since he is not privy to any tracking info once a guitar leaves PRS shipping.
I am not about to plunk down $3K plus for a guitar and not know where it is all times.
Sweetwater tells me they have tracking info so they know the date a guitar will arrive once it leaves PRS, then of course on route to my home, I then have tracking info from Sweetwater and FedEx Ground.

This is the color I am wanting, but it does not show in the site what color the sides, back and neck are.
I want the natural color like my son's SE Semi-Hollow for the sides, back, and neck.
That color along with the green color will look killer.

Is this something that PRS stocks, or does it have to be a custom job, and if so, what time frame to have it built and then shipped to Sweetwater?

Maybe it comes in that color setup I want, as I see one here.

Cannot post their pics of the backside here, as they have it setup so you cannot get the URL of the picture.
But from the pics they have there, it looks like it is the natural color I want for the sides, back, and neck.

The 408 standard I just got was ordered about 2 months ago but I think it took longer because of the rosewood neck. There are lots of dealers out there that would be willing to help you but I don't want to promote any because I believe that is against forum rules. I think the color options you want are standard for the 408 but you can go to the website and see all the differant options that you can get with the 408MT

Thanks Matt, I have an email now into my sales guy at Sweetwater.
If it comes standard the way I want it, that would make it much quicker to get.

Erize Verde has a natural back and sides as standard - no worries there :) Pattern Thin is a standard option, again no worries.

As it's a production guitar, it'll come with the stock 10s. Sweetwater probably won't swap it for 9s before they ship it (I'm guessing), so you'll need to either do it yourself or use a local tech. I'm sure if you bought it from your local Mom and Pop store they'd do the string swap for you free of charge...

I don't quite understand your concern re. knowing where it is at all times. Surely you'd just pay a deposit at your dealer and then the balance once it's in stock? You wouldn't be $3k+ out of pocket while it was on order.

Thanks Twin.
If you have seen my ordeal with my SE Tremonti Custom on getting it, you would understand why I want to be able to track it.
Third Tremonti ordered from PRS, and we have no idea where it is, and PRS will not answer him.

Yes, I would have the local shop do the tuneups on it for me after 9s get put on it.

It sounds like the 24hr tracking isn't the issue, more the dealer and their comminication channels? Your best plan may well be to order from Sweetwater and get your local tech to set it up for 9s.

Job done.

Hey man. I've read about your Tremonti SE ordeal and that sucks. One thing I don't understand is that after going through the wait with the Tremonti your talking about trying to order another guitar from a store that does not currently have it in stock. I've seen a few great dealers with the exact 408 MT your looking for available right now. You could probably pay extra and get it sent over night and no worries! You wouldn't have to be concerned with how long it takes the dealer to get the guitar and have a less stressful purchase.

That seems to be the problem, my dealer claims that his rep will not return his phone calls or emails about where my 3rd Tremonti is, plus he says he never gets a tracking number from them when they ship gear to his store.
Hence why if I am going to spend some big $$$ on a 408, I want to track it.

Thanks, the Sweetwater guy just got back to me, and he is looking into it.
They are only a shipping day away or so from PRS, and also Sweetwater can ship it overnight to me too if I decide to go that route.

I am just sick of this whole ordeal having ordered three SE Tremonti Customs now and I have not had one of them in my hands.
Who knows where the third one is.
