I was given an estimate of 12 weeks for a partial refinish. Is that normal? I though many guys have mentioned their instruments were a month or two max at the PTC, but not 3 months. Wow!
I would guess that with the weather out east that they are backed up right now or with limited crew.
If you have the option I would wait for better ( warmer with less snow ) weather.
My repair took just a bit over a month with shipping
I've waited a month or two, but remember that with a refinish, there's disassembly, sanding off the old finish, re-staining, letting that dry, then re-spraying, letting that dry, then re-sanding, then another spray, etc etc etc.

I now find myself in this situation too. One of my guitars is in the PTC (Maple top refinish) and I didn't get an ETA so I'll just let it ride for a few months before I check in again to see how things are going.
But I did tell them to take whatever time they need to get the job done.
I just had my 2005 CU22 in there getting a repair & upgrade (brand new 57/08's installed) so it's not like I am without something new and nifty to play while they are working on it.
Well, 4 and a half months and counting. While I am not going to rush them, I will send an email out soon asking for an update. Heck there have been a couple of times I forgot I owned the guitar!
I waited 4.5 months for a refinish and middle pickup addition. It could have been sooner, but per Matt they have a lot of projects that are in for work, very busy. But it was very much worth the wait.
So how do they price their alterations and repairs?? I live in Honolulu and would like to have some stuff done to my McCarty. It's rather dark and I know they were offering better pickups in some sort of promotion, but that was like 3 or 4 yrs. ago. Shipping would be exorbitant so the repair of a small ding would have to be reasonable if I ever got that far.
If you going to do it, then make it worth the cost to ship. PTC will do a lot of things, some not even listed. I own the project with the three pickups on ptc page. I would think about what you want to do and fill out a ptc form. They will contact you and work out the stuff you want to do and costs. Matt is awesome to work with.
