How long does it take to build an S2 Custom 24?

I recently bought a PRS S2 Custom 24. It showed up damaged. I took it back to my store and they said they would send me another one. They ordered it straight from PRS this time. They said it would take about 3 weeks to deliver and that it would just ship to the store. Its been over a month. I called the guy at my store to see if it arrived and he said no, and that he thinks they're building me one. So I'm wondering how long it takes to build an S2 Custom 24, and how long it takes to ship from the factory to Florida.

It doesn't really work that way. It's not like your dealer calls up and they start the next day. PRS builds a mix of guitars every day, depending on the back orders and what's already in the pipeline…

But typically, from start to finish, a guitar can be competed in about 2 weeks…

Hope this helps...

Unless you have special insider factory knowledge, you're just gonna have to roll the dice like the rest of us.

I had a 'blinged out quilt top Tremonti that took 4 months, and a Navarro that arrived at my dealer 3 weeks to the day it was ordered. I was always under the impression that opaque finish guitars took less time, but that's not really so. I'm currently in month 5 of waiting on a 305.....

And don't even get the *Private Stock* guys going on wait times.....

It's a total guess.....but worth it in the end!

It took 4 months for my dgt to get built. What I was told was, depends in when they have a certain model scheduled for production. One week it might be cu 24 ,cu22 ,408 etc. in order to keep production costs down, have to build this way because costs a lot of money to change machinery over.

I'm surprised your dealer didn't have another one in stock or went looking for another one. Could always get your money back and try somewhere else if that's an option.

P.s....sometimes dealers work a little harder when you are willing to take your cash somewhere else however might not be their fault at all. Could just be prs making a build time. One more thing, namm always puts a dent in dealers and companies communication. Most reps are at namm.

Yeah, I was going to mention NAMM and its effect on manufacturers. I'm sure they put most or all hands on getting the NAMM gear perfect.

The S2 series guitars are supposed to be much faster to produce.

These guitars don't seem in particularly short supply. Seems strange they would have to 'build you one' when there are so many in stock all over.

If your guitar is being built, it shouldn't take too long assuming there are necks ready. If its starting from scratch, it could take longer since there are several steps to forming the neck. IIRC from the S2 videos I seen the S2 necks are faster to manufacture then the core necks due to the fact that the initial neck blank is closer to the final dimension but the neck likely still needs to rest between stages of profiling.

When I bought a core SC (Chris Henderson sig 2012) I ordered the week before NAMM something like Jan 17th. and did not receive the guitar until the end of May (I think around the 30th). So, as others have said, its really based on what is in the que and how far along a build is before the order is placed.

I was worried:goodnight:.. I bought, really "pay for" a Hollybody II end of August und today I don`t still known nothing :iamconfused: .. but then could be normal!!! true?

I'd be asking your dealer to call ps and get an eta. You should be getting updates from your dealer and if not, I'd drop that dealer .

Bought and paid for an Artist Package in mid May. Received it in mid December. Just another data point.

:top:thanks guys, at least I feel best after with you talk to you. thanks guys, say me that is almost ready. ;-) But I feel a bit desperate jajaja .. patience... :goodnight:
