OK, I have to date acquired 3 PRS guitars, 2 SE's and my first Amurrrican Made S2. The SE's were my first "Communist"
guitars, "Communist" being Not Made in America. Now I have Mexican , Korean and Indonesian made instruments, and I'm lusting to by a Chinese made Hollowbody ...
Hey, I am not one of those "BuyAmerican" guys, as I am originally from Detroit, worked in the Auto Industry, and have driven a Japanese made Toyota for 30 years now !
But I digress. I did have concerns as to whether my first American Made PRS, an S2 McCarty Thinline, would equal the quality of my Asian made SE's. I does, and is worth the extra bucks in terms of feel, sound and perceived quality.
So I wondered what an S2 Hollowbody would be like ? Hopefully ."594" scale length, with a mahogany body and maple cap (figured with flamee stuff) and maple bound, But w/o the violin carve and details that make the Core's crazypriced. And hey , the "vintage non locking tuners" are cool too. (I put SE lockers on my 2 SE's as I am the world' worst guitar string changer ..) But I feel no need to off the tuners on my S2.
Hey, I got to fondle a used 513 once with its violin curve, and rolled fretboard edges (a really nice touch). But my local Sam Ash and GC stores 'usually don't have Cores around for molesting ... so this used 513 was my closest Core experience.
But even with BillGates $$$, I don't think I'd be buyin' a bunch of Cores .
But I would have a '.594 Thinline (no so thinline) with flamed maple cap hooked up through private stock ...
But an S2 McCarty 594 Hollowbody... Hopefully would not cost too crazy (ceiling price $2 to 2.5 Kilobucks) Would make it my most expensive guitar ...But maybe dooable in a tuff stretch $4 to 6 Kilobucks is out of the question, but I would like to add another Amurrican PRS to the fold, and an S2 Hollowbody would be killer. I'm still copping the SE version hopefully ...
