Holy Fade Batman...

I was looking around for something PRS related and I came upon a picture like this and was wondering what color it was. Turns out this used to be Royal Blue. I was pretty blown away by the amount of fade.

Nature is freaking crazy. Who knew that wood, stain and sunlight would lead to such beauty.

Almost ripe enough for me.

Nice score. I saw that pop up on GC used section a few weeks ago. I would have loved to buy it but I fell for Jet White Mira instead. I had a faded blue CE as well, it was a CE24 and it had the nicest color I've ever seen on a PRS. It looked different depending on the lighting and certain angles really brought out the color.

Krimson, really great looking top, almost silver. Interesting indeed what happens to blue...

It was basically the "10" top of the CE line. Pretty sweet!

And apparently, judging by photos others have posted, there are 10-top and non-10-top 3-piece tops. Which makes a 3-piece 10-top a 30-top, using "math."

Mine is not stamped "10" but I have seen pics of at least one that is.

I know this thread is over a year old, but I figured I'd add my CE24 to it. I just picked her up last week, and the awesome 3 piece top raised questions with me as well.

I don't know much about its pre-Carl life, only that it was taken in by a Guitar Center in St. Louis, MO and only a few days later fell into my grubby hands. It certainly seems to have had an easy life, so it could have been hanging on a wall somewhere sunny I guess.

I have seen the most dramatic fades pics posted involving guitars on the blue spectrum, not sure if there is a scientific reason behind color vs. fade degree.

I put maple pickup rings on my blue cu24 and was shocked at how much it has faded and it's a 2011.

It would look even better if the pickups were changed to something covered as the rusty screws and dirty pickup wells don't help the looks. Have you thought about getting the top re-done?
