Hollowbody I vs II

The I is better than II, that's all you need to know...;)

I only say that because I have a I. I think the only difference is the I has a maple top and the II has maple top and back.

This is what I think, too. Is have a hog back; IIs have a maple back.

From my best recollection on this subject it was HB I having a mahogany back and HB II having a maple back, but I believe there is a little crossover during model transition periods. My HB is listed as an HB II on the hang tag but has a mahogany back.

On top of that, the brightness/model equation doesn't hold a lot of water with me because I own the HB II with a maple top and an HB SC that is all mahogany (supposedly the darkest sound wood) and the maple top is so much darker sounding it blows that whole theory out of the water.
