Hey there everyone. I have been lurking for a while, and I think I even made a post once, lol. Anyway, I have a question for you. I have recently been bitten by the PRS bug, and have grabbed quite a few:

S2 Singlecut Standard
S2 Standard 22
S2 Vela
Custom 22 10-top
25th Anni SAS NF
57/08 SC245
SC250 AP
DC245 57/08

I am using them live with my band, Demented Truth, and have never been happier with my tone. I have a dilemma though. I am unsure of the DC245. I haven't totally bonded with it, nor have I used it with the band. It just seems to be lacking compared to all the others.

I am considering trading the DC245 for a Paul's Guitar. In theory I am pumped, but sonically what does the Paul's Guitar offer? I watched the Anderton's video and it seems the guitar will work in the context I need (versatile for studio work while providing a good classic hard rock sound live). Can anybody confirm that?

From a "value" stand point, are the guitars (and my DC245 is MINT - and I am assuming the Paul's is also. If it's not, then it's all moot) equal? Am I better off just hanging on to the DC245 for collector's value? Does that really matter?

Thanks everyone. Anything you can provide will help me make a decision!!! I don't mind just sticking it in the closet, but if the Paul's Guitar offers me something, sonically, that don't already have making the trade is in my benefit.

For fun, here's a pic of the DC245. I do have the truss rod cover in the case.

There was lots of love for the DC245s lots of folks found them to be special
BUT
The Pauls Guitar has a longer scale ( 24.5 vs 25" ) which I like and all your other guitars have.
The Narrow 408s ( which I also like, I like 408s in general )
I think you will find the Pauls different from the rest of your impressive herd and will really like how it plays in a live situation, It should have a bit more cut and projection than most of your other guitars and the split coil sounds and stellar :)

If you're not feelin' the 245, you're not feelin' it. That likely won't change assuming it's set up the way you like and all that. Also assuming you've spent time to explore and learn the guitar's intricacies. I'd trade it if that's how I felt.

If you're not bonding, I'd say move on. Assuming that you out it through its paces and spent plenty of time with it, that is. Paul's guitar may be a great fit as Rider pointed out.

The SCs are just magical - from the top: S2 Singlecut Standard - this guitar was my first PRS since 1994. I fell in love with it so much I bought all the others!! SC250 Artist - this guitar is my southern rock monster. I was not digging the 250 pickups, so I replaced them with SD "Saturday Night Special" pickups and now the guitar is everything I expect a SC to be. SC245 57/08 - this guitar is magical. It is beyond what I expect a single cut to be; it is what I always imagined an electric guitar to be. It is a living, breathing entity in my hands. It is the definition of electric guitar in every way. It is an amazing piece.

I have never played a Narrowfield ;( but the NFs don't split as far as I know.
What I like about the 408s is the even EQ from lows to highs no big humps or dips in the EQ , its a different vibe from a standard Humbucker

Thanks man! Is the 408 pickup anything like the Narrowfield?

Thanks Rider. Yeah, the NF's don't split. I have that SAS NF - and it's awesome, but I am picking up a 25th Anni McCarty NF tomorrow so I am pretty covered in that realm. Just wanted to make sure the 408/Paul's pick ups were different enough.

I am a fan of the Paul's Guitar. Those narrow 408 pups have a strong output, but with excellent clarity and balance. I describe it as a modern sounding guitar. It's a versatile, high performance machine, especially if you get the trem version. Fantastic split (combo split/tap, actually) tones. Will fill a nice niche in your collection.

Cool! That's what is important - that it is just different enough to not be redundant! I am going ahead with the trade. It's a 2015 Paul's Guitar trem in Faded Vintage Yellow - one of my favorite "classic" PRS colors.
