I put hipshot locking tuners on all my guitars that don't have locking tuners. You can get U.M.P. kit from Hipshot or your dealer. Theses are simple interlocking plates that prevent the need to drill more holes. A plus is that the tuners can be removed and the originals put back on very quickly if you want to sell the guitar. Like Mike Garvey, I replaced the studs and bridge , and found the Schroeder Guitars ones to be the very best. I'm a tinkerer, and have tried everything that made sense. I've also replace the nuts on most of mine, and the volume controls as well. I think that the pickups are much better than most people realize. The volume controls are another story, and that's a cheap mod. CTS and Bournes are the best I've tried.
