I use the Boss GT-100. While not as 'high-end' as an AXE FX, I find it quite useable for me needs either direct or with a tube amp. When I need to run a direct feed I have patches that include amp, cab, and mic simulators. When I use it in the 4-cable method connected to my amp, I pass on the GT-100 amp/cab/mic simulations and use it for gain and modulation effects.
