Looks like my old house (in Black Forest) is gone. Black Forest itself (North-East Colorado Springs) is likely to be completely destroyed. About 8000 acres is already gone. 2 of my co-workers are already on mandatory evacuation. Half-a-dozen more just left to go home and pack what they can while they are still allowed to enter their neighborhood. My office, which is a few miles south of the blaze, is now on voluntary evacuation status.

My house is on the West side, 10 miles south. We're safe. Hopefully we'll able able to assist in some way.

You guys might recall that we lost thousands of acres and hundreds of homes in the Waldo Canyon fires last summer. It was insult to injury after a chunk of the state burned down about 10 years ago. This fire will probably claim many more homes than last year's fire. It's all very sad and there is no end in site for the drought that is exacerbating the issue.

That sucks, I heard about this on the news and was wondering how close you were to it all. If you want to be safe and send me a few of your guitars until this blows over let me know.

It's weird, here in the Northeast we've had 15 inches of rain in the past few days. Flooding is our problem. I have always said the two worst disasters are fire and water. Good luck buddy.

Looks like the Royal Gorge fire has jumped the canyon (wow). 4000 acres burning west of Cañon City.

Man that's just horrible...catastrophic is probably a more appropriate term...

Keeping your state in our thoughts Hans...

Glad you and yours are safe, and it's awesome that you are willing to lend a hand to those less fortunate. Good karma.

That's terrible. I hope the fires stay away from you and they get them under control soon. I've always wondered, do they do prescribed burns out West?

Been there... It's nerve-wracking and unforgettable when the whole sky turns that golden color, especially if you've been chased out of your home. My thoughts and hopes for the best are with you and the rest of that region.

Terrible, Hans, especially given Colorado's amazing beauty.

We've had so much rain here in the Midwest and East that I wish I could send some. Is there anything that your forum brothers and sisters can do to help in some way?
