I just purchased an SECU24 Floyd in Amethyst after looking around for the last 6 months for $500 and was assured that it was in mint condition and it really has been taken care of but.... The owner failed to tell me about any modifications done and after getting it home realized that the Floyd Rose was removed & a Gotoh 1996 was installed, the selector is now a 5 way instead of 3 w/a push pull to split the coils. I am afraid I won't be able to change the tremolo back as I believe the stud holes were drilled out larger to accommodate the Gohtoh's studs due to the missing and unfinished wood is saw when I removed said tremolo. I always wanted another guitar with an OFR since I let my Nightswan go so if anyone has any thoughts on this it would be most appreciated. The pickups seem to be original going by their appearance but I am considering upgrading to 57/08 & 59/09 and switching back to the 3 way selector w/push pull splitting, will the PTC do that work on a SE sent to them?

I've been using Floyds since they were first made available and the Gotoh 1996 is one of the best ever made. It's a far superior piece than the Korean Floyd that comes stock on the SE. I wouldn't dream of changing it back.

I agree with Pete. IMHO, the Gotoh is better than a real Floyd. I'd also highly recommend getting a bigger brass sustain block and removing the shim and tension plate. Good luck!
