Help Needed With Winged Phase I Tuner Replacement

I have a '96 CU24 with the original winged Phase I tuners and would like to replace the tuners with a drop in replacement to avoid damaging the guitar. I intend to keep the original tuners on the off chance that I sell this guitar at some point, though that is pretty unlikely.

After searching old posts, it looks like the full size Schaller M6 180 tuners, either locking or non-locking, are the only option. Is this correct or am I missing something?

Assuming you have the shared D/G screw like my ‘96, I think you limited for drop in replacements if you don’t want wings. I have these on mine:

They work well, just be careful how much you tighten the thumb screw on top cause you can shear the string if you over tighten it. Otherwise they work well.

Phase II's are a perfect fit with NO issues with the holes.

Nah, 96’s will still have Schaller’s with the shared D&G like @vchizzle said.

Yes, it does have the shared D and G screw, but I have tools to modify other tuners as necessary to fit, so I am open to other options as well.
