HELP! My Archon Died

Well,

Here's the response from PRS:

Hi there Marc,

Thank you for reaching out to PRS; I'm very sorry to hear your Archon is no longer receiving power. It's possible that you may have a blown fuse; have you checked that your amp's fuse is still good? I've provided a link on how to check your fuse here: How to check and change a power fuse

Oftentimes, failing power tubes are the result of blown fuses--amp tubes are consumable goods and have a limited usable lifespan. However, if your fuse is still good, there may be a deeper issue in the amp requiring our techs to look into.

Let me know if this helps!

Unfortunately, I don't have a multimeter in my house, so I'm at a bit of a loss here.

Eyeballs will often let you determine if a fuse is blown. Just pull it and see. Won't take but a moment.

Motor City is indeed a great shop, it reminds me of Meyers Music as it was back in the day - huge, great selection of kiiller gear with everything out on the floor.

But Motor City has even more stuff, much of it high end.

I've bought every guitar and amp I've owned from Jack since 2001, with the exception of the Two-Rocks. But I've gotten lots of other gear from Motor City.
I have also sold some of my gear through them. Marty is first rate and a good guy. I have two amps on their floor right now as the wife caught onto me when she went to put the Christmas ornaments away in the basement.

Having now replaced the fuses to no effect, I followed up with PRS CS again, and their response is disappointing to say the least. The response? Take your amp to a local repair tech for diagnostic testing and repair. PRS has been provided with the original sales receipt placing me well within the warranty period, they've been provided the serial number, etc. I'm deeply disappointed to see the "oh, well, things happen to amps" attitude. This amp is going to be brought back up to running order, and it's being sold off and replaced with something else from a manufacturer that will actually be helpful in the event that the amp decides to take a crap during the warranty period.

Dude, something’s not right there. Call 410-643-9970 and talk with them directly. If that’s still the response, ask to speak to the person over support. I’ve never seen them not cover a warranty repair when documentation was provided.

You might clarify if they mean to have it diagnosed locally, and they will assist there. Also, ask specifically about sending it back to them for repair.

Don't ya just hate when that happens?
It seems like things just get calmed down here and then the wife catches me again
🤣 🤣 🤣
I always employ the secret agent CIA stuff when getting new gear. It rarely works...

Someone once asked my wife how I managed to sneak so much stuff into my old studio that had a ton of analog gear racked up.

"One cable at a time," she replied.

I swear my wife is part blood hound
she can sniff out a new piece of guitar gear from a mile away

I’d start by checking the internal fuse-sometimes they blow without you noticing. If that checks out, swap any tubes or cables you’ve got handy. If it still stays dead, it could be the output transformer or something on the board.

Gotta rotate out a couple to keep Mount Vesuvius from erupting. Kept the Matchless, HiTone and Little Walter, but had to put the HXDA 50 up for sale.

The Forum Jury then finds me Guilty of Wrongful Sale of a HXDA.
