Hi, I'm looking for my first electric guitar. Because of the situation I won't be getting out to the stores for quite a while. I really like the looks of the PRS SE's but I've never tried one. I think I could be really happy with any of the SE line. I'm thinking about the Standard, Mira and Starla and the Custom 24 and 22.

How much difference is there in the all-mahogany bodies and the maple capped ones? Do they feel the same?

I've only played acoustics with 1 3/4 nut with 1 1/2 string spacing at the nut. Can someone tell me the string spacing of the PRS's at the nut and the bridge?

I'm tempted to just order one online, so any info will be appreciated.

Thank you!

My Spanish guitar has 1.75" nut and suits me fine.
Almost no 6 string electrics have anywhere near that wide a string spacing (there are a couple that come close).

A narrower neck will take a little getting used to but the good news is:
1/ You will start to adjust pretty quick (you'll play pretty well after an hour)
2/ It wont mess up your muscle memory for your wider acoustics.

Eventually, switching between guitars will take less time to adjust (minutes).

I have a Korean SE Custom 24 from 2014. Its one of my better guitars (and better than most of my USA ones). I have never modified it other than to block the trem.

How much difference is there between a standard 24 and a custom 24? I know that one is all mahogany and one has the maple cap but are the bodies the same thickness? Do they feel the same? What is the difference in tone?

Really, they are all different guitars thanks to have differing body shapes, pickups, bridges etc. The all Mahogany guitars tend to be a bit darker/warmer in general to those with a maple cap but most should feel very similar as they have the same scale length and neck carve - at least among the 4 models you mention.

it really depends on what you want. I think they all have the same nut width (1 11/16 - slightly narrower than 1 3/4) and same string spacing across all with the only difference being that some may come with a 'wide fat' neck as opposed to a 'wide thin'. Same width, just slightly different thicknesses.

Its very difficult to advise which 'first' guitar to go for as it really depends on what you want and what you think you might need. For example, do you want a trem or fixed bridge? Ultimately, its probably better to go with the one that you like the look of most, one that you think is going to make you want to pick it up and play. Its no point me telling you to go for a Custom 24 over a Starla for example because of 'x,y or z' if you are not comfortable dealing with a trem yet or playing beyond the 15th fret and prefer the look of the Starla anyway. Sometimes you have to just jump in and get the instrument that you prefer the most. I would suggest going to a store and just seeing which grabs you the most. From the experience of that, you can then decide what you may want from an electric, what it gets right for you and what, if anything it lacks or would change - therefore know what specs/features to look for.

For a first electric guitar, I’d consider sone of the stoptail non-trem models. Trems are kinda adding another variable for tuning, that might be more complicated when starting out.

Mira, Starla, SC Standard, etc. is where I’d look.

Might as well throw the Paul's SE in there too.

I’m with these two
