I can understand you have better already
that changes things
My S2 is my best Cu24

to be clear though I never understood the complaints about the different necks
I can play either the WF or the WT without telling much difference
I have short fat fingers though
I am sure it would be different with long fingers

To be fair, I can play just about any guitar neck, but when I have a guitar that's just not clicking with me, why keep it in the stable, especially when it's not giving me a different enough tone from something else in the rack. At the end of the day, the S2 10th Anniversary Custom 24 has the same pickups as my Core 35th Anniversary Custom 24.

All things considered, I just had my list of choices complicated further with the new Limited Ed. CE 22 that was just announced. It ticks some important boxes in my opinion:

U.S. Made
A set of pickups different from my current Core PRS guitars
Pattern Regular neck
Locking tuners

Now admittedly, the downside for me is that the guitar has a tremolo. I'd much preferred if this were a stoptail bridge.

Thin necks aren’t so much a “metal” thing as they are a “small hands” thing. I never understood thin necks being associated with “shred” as I find my hand cramps up on them. I much prefer a medium thickness neck with a more elliptical shape, not the thin/flat “D” shape that has more pronounced shoulders.

And to be honest, I don’t find the PRS wide/thin neck profile to be all that thin. It’s quite comfy to me, but I get that it’s not for everyone. Wide/fat is a great profile, though. I wish I’d kept my Swamp Ash Special that had a w/f neck. That thing was glorious.
D^rren I think the shred association was due to all the Ibanez/Jackson etc guitars that the 80’s shredders were playing. Most had wide thin necks with a very flat radius like the Wizard necks. One of my all time favs which is why for me the of CU24 felt so good. It’s still my fav PRS model. I have guitars with pattern regular, wide fat and can get along with any of them but understand why the OP may like a particular neck profile.

i thought the OG singlecuts were thinner, and didn’t get chonky until the McCarty, SC250 and SC245 models came out later.
The OG Singlecuts are good and chunky. If you can snag an 01, there was some seriously magic mojo in whatever Paul did to that vintage...

I think I'd go old school McCarty and some new 57/08 pickups.
Here's the burning question if I were to go that route...would it be best to go McCarty; McCarty Standard, or McCarty Korina?

EDIT: I also wouldn't mind trying to track down a set of my all time favorite PRS Pickups...the Dragon I's.

That's a great question. I'd have to coin flip to decide between those three options. Can't go wrong with any of them, that's for sure.

The new S2 Special Semi-Hollow and S2 Studio are really strong front runners now. I like the versatility that comes with the SSH, but it being semi-hollow makes me a little hesitant given my previous experience with a semi-hollow S2 Custom 22 and the resonant feedback issues I had with it at gigs.

I have a pre-order Artist Package SSH. I have NO problems with any uncontrolled volumes gigging with a loud stage volume!

If you like a 24.5" scale also consider the older (pre-2011) stoptail SC245.
