Hi everyone! I need help identifying a guitar I recently acquired. I emailed PRS about it and they said my serial number 10 266259 was invalid....which gave me a heart attack, since I paid $1000 for the guitar. I did some research and thought maybe since it's got the 10 (for 10 top, right?), they were mistaken somehow?

Their response was;
Thank you for writing PRS Guitars. Serial number 266259 is not a valid number however 166259 I have listed as a 2010 Custom 24, figured maple top, mahogany neck with a regular carve, East Indian rosewood fretboard, Charcoal Burst finish with HFS treble and Vintage bass pickups. I hope you find this information helpful.

That is definitely not the guitar I have.

I sure hope it's not a fake...any help in identifying this guitar is sincerely appreciated.

You can breath again. It is a legit 2002 PRS. The 10 is not the year. It is a designation for a 10 top. The first number of the serial number is the year. The rest falls in the 2002 sequence. Congrats. Nice guitar.

Yes, breathe easy.

2 = 2002
66259 = the production number
10 = 10 top

You got a great deal and I love that top!

What a relief!!!! Thank you everyone. Any idea what it's worth? I'm keeping this one for life, but just curious!

It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Seriously.

I generally see Cu22's like yours at around $1500 - $2000 used. You got a good deal.:)

I was thinking $1500-ish would be fair. $1200 on the lower end, maybe $1700 higher end. I looked at CU22s for a friend recently.

I agree with AP's first line. The market can vary quite a lot, so don't worry too much about its worth. I think you'd at least recoup your money if you ever decide to sell.

Thank you everyone, I'm beyond relieved. I also just got this response from PRS after I asked for clarification:

That clears things up. Putting the 10 at the beginning threw me off. This appears to be a 2002 Custom 22, figured maple 10 top, mahogany neck with a wide/fat carve, East Indian rosewood fretboard, Cherry Sunburst finish with Dragon II pickups.

Wow, that's nice! Love the mineral streaks.
