Wife and I were to go to Kentucky over the 4th but solid rain there caused us to go elsewhere. We went to Wisconsin Dells but we're not diggin it. We will leave for Madison. Saturday and want to know where we can go see a good band, ya know, cut loose a little. Any suggestions?

How are you not diggin' The Dells?!? I'd crush that place for weeks if I had the budget.

If you're looking for something to do on the 4th in the Madison area, you can go to the Monona July 4th Festival (http://www.mononafestival.com/schedule-of-events/thursday-july-4th-schedule/). I go with my wife every year and I'll be there starting around noon today. Plus it is one of the few places in the Madison area that has fireworks on the 4th. PM me and I can get you my number.

Otherwise, here's a list of what's happening today in Madison: http://www.isthmus.com/search/event/calendar-of-events/#categories=1_136&search_date=2015-07-04

Go to Milwaukee for Summerfest. If you want music.....awesome time. Tonight you'll have the option of Jane's Addiction(I'm going to see them), Foghat, Weird Al, Sammy Hagar, Blackberry Smoke and a pile of others on free stages. Avett Brothers (Warren Haynes is opening) playing the Marcus Amphitheater. If you buy a ticket to the Marcus show you have access to all the free stages as well. http://summerfest.com/ They have kick ass motorcycle parking VERY close to the grounds, assuming you're on the bike.

If you stay in Madison area, you could hit fireworks in Monona tonight(they have bands, beer tent, etc. http://www.mononafestival.com/

High Noon Saloon is a favorite of mine: http://www.high-noon.com/event/836271-blitzen-trapper-madison/

Although if you don't want people or traffic, Summerfest is NOT the place to go!

I'm heading down to Evansville in a bit. They always do a big festival type thing (for a small town), a couple local bands, beer tents, and other small town things, fireworks at dusk, and you can actually find some place to park, lol. Evansville is about 25 miles south of Madison.

And yes, we are on the bike. It's been great riding weather for a change. The only rain we should hit is in Iowa going home on monday.
