Hey all
I need some ideas for a gift
My brother from another Mother is the one who encouraged me to play
He has given me some wonderful guitars
and loaned me the most beautiful DGT I have ever seen

Obviously He is well off and I am not
But I need some suggestions for a present that will really knock his socks off
My budget is about $100

He would love a pair of socks if that's what I gave him
but He does so much for me and many others
He is a true philanthropist

I'd like to find something special and tailored to him
any suggestions?

Are we talking musical presents or something different? What's he into?

Something musical would be nice
But he has such a bad case of GAS
it will be hard to find something

He is a Former USAF U2 pilot
Former Senior Captain for Delta
Loves PRS guitars, Music, Vinyl, and Harleys,
He is a big Umphrey's McGee Fan
and of course Jimi
Travels to a lot of concerts

He gives a lot to local Charities
We serve together on the board of the Boys and Girls club of Meigs county

I'm picky as hell, and was knocked out by these straps made in England with traditional English leather working craftsmanship.

Absolutely, hands-down, the highest quality leather straps I've ever seen - that would be a LOT of expensive straps - and within your price point. After my first one I liked them so much I bought three for myself and two for my son to tour with.

Then again, fine leather goods usually work for me, and I don't know your brother.

I’ll second this idea. Thanks to Les’ comments I’ve bought 2 of them, and a buddy also bought one. Great craftsmanship, communication, and shipped in cool packaging.

You’re in Ohio?

As a Michigan fan I take great offense at this!
🤣 🤣 🤣

Ehhhh...our offense kinda sucked this season. So I take great defense at this!

Then again, even the defense didn't finally gel until the last couple weeks of the season. Hopefully they can put a complete team on the field next year.

Michigan needs OSU. OSU needs Michigan. I read that The Game was the highest rated football game on TV this year, ahead of the others by several million viewers. It's good for the teams and the conference.

I know we're supposed to bring the hate. I can't do it. I like the rivalry aspect.

He sounds like he doesn't need anything. Some random ideas:
1) Take that $100 and donate it to one of his favorite causes, in his name (or not if he likes to be anonymous), and send him some acknowledgement of the gift. If you and he don't have a favorite, may I recommend a few dear to my heart - they all have something to do with Down Syndrome...
2) A picture of you two doing something you both love together.
3) Some time together. A get together holiday jam?
4) A joint volunteer mission at, perhaps a mission, a homeless thing, Boys or Girls club?
5) It seems he likes to give, so maybe give him the opportunity to do so somehow.

Whatever it is, commemorate it with some photos. If he's an ex U2 pilot, he is of the age that memories, friends and experiences probably mean more than things. That's just my opinion, and you know him well. He sounds like a fine man. You sound like a fine friend. Sometimes, that is gift enough.

I Am Going A Different Route On This One. If He Is Married, Talk To His Wife And See What He May Be Interested In That He May Not Share With You And Get An Idea From Her. It May Be A Simple Thing That Could Hold A Great Deal Of Meaning To Him And Really Surprise Him. He Would Appreciate It And Always Remember It.

One of the things that people of all income levels always appreciated from me as gifts were the Swarovski "Annual Edition Festive Ornament" they do each year (and that I used to give to many each year when the money was there). One year it will be a crystal snowflake, the following year a crystal star, then back to snowflake. I have about 10 of them from the years 96-06 or so. A few friends/family members started their own collection after I gave them their first and they love getting the new one each year. List price is $90 (and this year it is a snowflake), but you can usually find them for ~$60 or even a little less. It makes a great piece for the Holidays, but can easily be used year round. Just a thought ;~))

I just found him a couple of Gifts I think he will be very happy with
I know he purchased one of the 40th Anniversary Dragons

So I got him a 40th Anniversary Dragon Tee Shirt
A 40th Anniversary Ball Cap
and a 40th Anniversary Micro fiber cloth

all small things but I think He will be happy
I know I am

as for the custom Strap
I will look at that for his birthday in March

Your friend sounds like an amazing guy, and I get wanting to give him something that feels special without breaking the bank. One idea that worked for me once was putting together a digital frame from nixplay.com with photos of all the great times we’ve had together. It’s super personal, and he’d probably love seeing memories from concerts, events, or anything meaningful between you two.
