I'm new here, from Scotland.

I recently bought a PRS 2013 Cu24 Experience model (orange fade, 10 top) which I plan on insuring! I got a warranty card and it asks me to attach the "hang sticker" - what is that? Surely you can just register online, somehow.. If it's the card which has the serial number etc on it, I'd be reluctant to post that!!

I was surprised to see that the strings are 10s, not 9s! They certainly play like 9s! I'll have to read the PRS set-up guide because if I do switch to 9s, I'm guessing the bridge will move a tad away from the body due to the decreased tension.

There's a bit of buzz on most strings (the action came very low) - I must also check out the best way to fix this!

In any case, the guitar is amaaazing! You'll know they cost a lot more to buy over here due to shipping etc so it cost a LOT. Here's the link so you can see what it looks like:

When I registered my Cu24, I actually took the sticker off the hang tag, and taped it to the registration card. It did not come off easily. It was not pretty. I am not entirely sure if that is what they meant?!?!?!?

Welcome and congrats on the new instrument!

I don't think there is any requirement for you to actually register the guitar. If you have a problem, simply take it back to where you bought it with your proof of purchase and they'll sort you out.

Congrats - I really dig those fades.

No online registration system, unfortunately.

And welcome aboard!

ETA: Almost forgot - sounds like maybe you need just a bit more relief in the neck. A quick twist of the truss rod should do the trick. I can never remember which way to turn it to add or remove relief, but there are vids on YouTube. Just go slow (like 1/8-1/4 turn) and give it time to adjust.

Congratulation on the new guitar and welcome the the site!

I think they have been shipping with 10's for a while now as they have become more popular.

I do not know if there is really any advantage to registering the guitar. I've not had a lot of warranty work, but registration has never been an issue.

Hey - congrats on the purchase. I have one very similar which I also got here in the UK (I can still say that, right?)

I found the 10s to feel really good on my Custom 24 when I brought it, better than on other guitars I have.
I think this comes down to the scale length which is almost certainly different to what you are used to (Gibson is shorter, Fender is longer, compared to PRS).
On your new PRS, The 10's should feel a little stiffer than 10's on a Les Paul, but a little looser than 10's on a Strat.

Try both and let me know how you go : )

Hi all, and thanks for the warm welcome!

Turns out the 10s are ok - I think I'll stick with them! I haven't triedmany different kinds of strings but I usually use D'addarios..

Yes, you can still say the UK for now (scary, though)! ;D

OK so it seems if you're outside the US, you just have to keep your receipt. I guess this means I don't get the free Mel Bay pack then!

I tweaked the action a tad so it buzzes less... wasn't as tricky as I thought. It's made it a teeny, tiny bit harder to play but no big deal.

Got to say it was a lot of money for me... just over two and a half grand! How much would similar sell for in the States? In any case, I don't regret it. 57/08s are amazing, it feels solid but also like a guitar I've played for years. The "unfinished" maple neck plays so well (no stickiness when sliding up and down), and the fade on it is just remarkable. Anybody know what the nuts are made of (oo-er)?
