I am new to this forum and new to the amazing world of guitars. I have purchased a SE Custom 24 (SN p03316) I believe this guitar is ~ 2016 but in any event it has a couple of issues...
The first issue is annoying as any contact with the outlet jack cord while playing causes a major noise. I have not pulled the jack out as I don't know what I am doing... at this point at least
The second issue is small but also annoying as when I pull the tone knob to "tap" it comes off in my hand....
Any suggestions welcomed as I am ready to pull out the jack and attack with my solder iron.... I have also thought about wrapping the pot adjustment with "thread tape" but that might be dumb..

As for the output jack I would check the ground and solder as needed. The knob probably just needs the shaft, if it's split, widened a bit. Otherwise a little tape, as you suggested, will fix her up nicely. Welcome to the forum!

@shimmilou is on the right track. You can spread the gap on the shaft, or your idea about the thread tape is good as well.

And it sounds like either the jack isn’t tight enough, or the whole thing is a little loose. Does the plug go into this jack with a different feel than other guitars?

Be careful when spreading the shaft ends. They can break. Just go in small increments.

Thanks!
I will try and spread the slot a bit.... I pulled the jack cover and a small white wire (?ground) has bare wire showing in a number of places along the wire and the solder joint looks okay. I will trim the wire and attempt to solder it... :) My first attempt at soldering

The nut was a bit loose but the issue seems to be the small white wire has bare areas along its length! I will try and trim/solder it but first kick at the soldering cat so…..
I will be careful spreading the knob slot

Get yourself a soldering gun, not an iron. They make soldering so much easier!
