The beauty of the HBII is it's ability to achieve a "harmonic sustain" note bloom (I don't know what other term to use). In other words striking a note and having it endlessly sustain into a higher harmonic. It's achievable with any guitar and the right amount of volume and gain, but much easier with hollow guitars.
Well last night I was playing with my band and noticed this happening, looked down at my pedals and noticed I had no overdrive going. It was blooming out and holding with the amp set clean. I was so delighted. It's really a function of my guitar and the amp (Fender PRRI). Mine is rigged loud, I set the volume clean right before natural breakup (sweet spot 4.5-5.5). I've tried to achieve this many times and figured it wasn't possible without a little gain/OD.
I've had this guitar about a year and a half and it keeps getting better. Compared to my other beloved guitars it's in another universe of build quality and tone. Thanks again PRS!
