If anyone sees a gloss black Gibson Explorer with a custom made Diamondplate pick guard cover, let me know. I'd like to buy that one back.
Situation in reverse.
Twenty years ago, I bought an Artist 1, an Artist 2, and an Artist Ltd from a listing on The Gear Page. These were a stunning matching set of tortoise shell quilts all originally ordered from a young employee of a guitar store in Colorado. Years ago, I sold the Artist 2 and Ltd, but kept the Artist 1. Recently I decided to downsize a bit, and the Artist 1 was one of the casualties.
I listed the Artist 1 on a guitar site, and within a few days, I received a message from the original owner who wrote to tell me he had been hoping to find these guitars again some day. I recognized his name immediately, but he did not realize I was the individual who bought these from him all those years ago. After I identified myself, it all came back to him. I still had all of the written correspondence between us which I’d kept in the case.
He explained that it was his 50th birthday, and had decided this was the perfect present to himself. I shipped it to him, and he was delighted to have it back.
I think those were from Allparts. They feel great, too.
That's an awesome story! Being on the receiving end, I can assume he was stoked.
And THAT is a fricking gorgeous top!
Atta boy, Steve! That is one stunning looking top. Really floats my boat!
This was an impulse buy. I was after a DGT but got distracted because this was cheaper. Then I traded this for a McCarty and bought it back again after a few years to the guy I traded for the McCarty. He then went and bought a silver sky.
Awesome karma, congrats!
Outstanding! Great story and glad it’s back home .... congrats!
That has to be one of the best Mira's out there. I have always loved the wooden upgrades.
Can you remind me where or how you did the pickguard? Looks amazing.
A guy named Rob, who I think I found on the earlier PRS forum, made it. It was dirt cheap, and really well done. PM me, if you want. I've got the name he was working under, but don't want to spam it out, in case things have changed.
Thanks for that, I am musing changing pickguard on my SC, different continent though
I had to pass my Mira on to someone else. Although I loved the it, I couldn't gel with the pattern regular neck, found it too narrow on top for string spacing, and too rounded on back
I like the S2 necks, although I had an S2 Mira too and its neck was noticeably less meaty than my S2 SC, which is my favourite so far.
Point being there is manufacturing variance. Of my two would guess the SC is a little above tolerance. Love it though
