PRS pickups...
in a 2013 Custom 24...
uncovered squabbins...
57/08's instead of 59/09's.

Have these pickups ever existed?

Very interesting gush. I didn't know they ever did that.

Then as for the color of this used guitar I'm looking at, it is a non standard color so I think it is entirely possible that it was originally a GC custom run.

Thanks everyone!

The PRS price lists show squabbin uncovered 57/08 as follows:

2015: Custom 22, P22 & P24
2014: P22 & P24
2013: Custom 24, P22

Good to know. When I saw the the guitar for sale which prompted this question in the OP, I was concerned that they actually might be mislabeled 59/09's. Nothing wrong with those pickups if you like them but for me, the difference between the guitar having 59/09's versus 57/08's was the difference between me buying the guitar or not buying the guitar. This is because I much prefer the 57/08's and having the pickups changed after the fact would cost me another $500.00. So, after receiving my answers above, I went ahead and bought the guitar. Good news, they SOUND like 57/08's!

It may very well be that I now own every incarnation of 57/08's ever made. My Studio model has two 57/08 narrowfields and one 57/08 with a brushed nickel cover. Another CU24 has two 57/08's with polished nickel covers, and now this CU24 has two 57/08 squabbins. That's all of the options, right? ;)

Here's the new (to me) guitar.

Pretty sure any P series guitar thats not a single cut had them before the latest refresh that put 85/15s in them.

I suppose that part of my confusion was that I thought they weren't putting 57/08's in guitars during that time frame. My 2011 CU24 came with 59/09's and I thought that was all you could get at that time because that is what came "stock". Basically, I thought the 57/08's had been discontinued (for lack of a better word) once the 59/09's had come out. I also knew that PRS was very protective of their 57/08's and that you couldn't just buy them OTC which further led to my confusion.

Yeah PRS has always kept their pickups close to the chest. I am honestly not sure why they decided to sell the 59/09s but not the 57/08s.

It makes shopping for another axe that much more complicated, 85/15 vs 57/08 etc etc.
