I knew my main Custom 22 was going to turn ten years old soon, but I actually missed it. Dug out the hang tag... missed it by a week or so!

I haven't actually owned it for 10 years. It sat at the dealer on the shelf for a year and a half before I bought it new. It was just hanging out, waiting for me to come along.

This guitar has seen relatively few modifications - relative to my habits anyway. DGT bridge pickup with stock Dragon 2 in the neck. Tremol-no. New lampshade knobs. Straploks.

This guitar changed the way I think about guitars. It was a 180 degree revolution. Thank you, black guitar. That's what I've always called it, The Black Guitar. Silly, I know, sort of like the Grand Canyon or naming a brown dog Brown Dog.

Happy Birthday, John Beef's Black Guitar! I had a few Gibbys and an F when I played my first CU24 in 1992 and it changed me as well (and started me on this path)...

I am a bad father - I apparently just missed TWO of my babies' birthdays: my 2000 CU22 Chambered Semi Hollow's 15th (06-29-00) and my 2014 CU24 Semi-Hollow's 1st (06-25-14). Shameless photo opps:

At one point I tried naming all of my guitars that do not have names. But I gave up. I figure the name comes to them or it doesn't. YES, the Gold Top is "Goldie."
