Not Children........ my guitars! Hey guys I need an opinion. I’m converting an office in our house over to a guitar room and I purchased some wall hangers for my guitars. I will be changing the direction of the airflow from the heater vent to not directly have them be affected by the hot air flow. What do you guys think is this OK for guitars? Is it something that I should not do? Thanks for all the opinions and happy holidays to everyone!!

Happy holidays, Sybo!

Lots of folks hang theirs. It’s a trade-off.

There are benefits to keeping guitars in cases when not in use: Cases buffer daily temperature and humidity changes (that actually change over the course of a single day and night); they keep household stuff (like cooking grease and dust that gets in the air in most homes that tends to foul and clog pots and switches) away. The guitars stay a little nicer, and need fewer setups. They fade less.

But many players like to avoid the five seconds it takes to get the guitar out of the case, or just like the look of stuff hanging on walls.

I keep mine cased. It’s all about what makes you happy!

Mine all hang out. I prefer to be able to grab one quickly. I also do my own setups (mostly) so I don't worry about temp/humidity changes. Since I live in the desert, humidity is almost never a thing.

We recently bought a house and the agreement was that the open loft would be my 'den' where I would keep my guitars, amps etc. It has worked out pretty decent. I haven't hung the guitars. I have them on stands. I also have a computer desk and the obligatory TV plus several bookcases. The loft has two air vents and I did mention to my wife when I was setting everything up that I needed to keep them out of the direct flow of hot air. And she answered that I better be careful not to talk directly to them as well. :)
