Hello guys. New here. I am about to buy my first PRS and the young lady I'm buying it from is the 2nd owner and knows virtually nothing about it. I'm hoping someone can make me feel good about it lol. It has 22 frets, gold hardware, tone and volume controls and a 3way toggle switch. It seems to have a rosewood overlay on the headstock and abalone inlayed signature. The serial starts with 10 space and then six digits starting with 166. Any help or knowledge would be greatly appreciated as I'd to be sure I'm not about to buy a fake lol

I don't have any yet. I'll see if I can get some. It's also a purple burst which I've been told is not too common a color. There is no other markings or anything on this guitar only the serial number which looks like others that ive seen. I'm inclined to believe its authentic but want to be sure. Someone else offered her more than she was asking then backed out so it's odd. I'm just being cautious

What model is it? And how much is she asking? If the deal seems too good to be true, you’re right to be cautious!

The best way to properly identify it is to unscrew the bridge pickup (the 4 corner screws in the pickup ring) and look for a barcode in the cavity. Known as the MODCAT, you can extract the complete specifications of this guitar. If it doesn’t have one, except in very special circumstances, you might have a problem. Pictures are essential.

I'm not sure. I'm thinking a custom 22 from 2010 but I don't know enough about PRS to be sure. The control setup is like a McCarty. I just don't know. I'll have pics later.

The SN matches up to a 2010 guitar. Rosewood headstock veneer and abalone signature and gold hardware sounds like an Artist Package from that era. However, there are some fakes out there. They're usually pretty bad, but may fool an untrained eye. Post a pic here and we will instantly be able to tell if it's real or not.

You can also email the SN to PRS customer service and they will ID it for you.

ok so as I'm sure is fairly obvious, I'm not very good with this tech stuff. I cant figure out how to post pics on here lol.

I do know that the pickups appear to be Seymour Duncan. They are definitely not PRS. Everything else points to being a real deal PRS. It has original case and as I said ,I'll be buying from a young lady who is second owner. I've emailed PRS tech but won't hear back until after the 1st. If I can figure out pics ill post them. Thanks for all the input.

Photos need to be hosted by Imgur, photobucket, Google photos etc. and then use the share (or BB) code on the text box.

Not sure about the headstock and tuners myself
Thanks. Yeah but I have seen some very close. The Grovers, I'm still trying to find out about. The young lady says that it is exactly as she bought it. That's why im trying to research it. I'll probably still get it as it's not a bad deal but I sure would like to know for sure.

I personally wouldn’t buy it even if it’s a super good deal. I bought one of those Les Pauls back in the day for $100 from China definitely wasn’t worth it.
