Guitar Centers' offer on my CU24 Artist (on a trade) was . . . .

All over the place!

From the lowest ball at $900 up to $1,700 for my 2005 Custom 24 Artist in Scarlet Red (BTW, Dave's Guitar offered $2K!). The place that kindly offered $900 for my CU24 Artist had a used Paul's Guitar. Needless to say, I declined the offer, but tried out Paul's guitar for about 30 minutes. Loved it, though I like my NOS ME I better.

So, what did I leave with? See below that matches nicely with my PRS 1x12 cab :)

EDIT: I also brought back my CU24.

That looks awesome - glad you got what you wanted.

but the real question is... WHY are you getting rid of your CU24?!

Just went to check "to see" if Paul's Guitar was worthy of a trade since my Standard 24 is getting a bit more love. Loved it, but I love my CU24 better!

Fair enough :)

I just sold a CE24 so I could help fund my new CU24 that I got at a huge discount thanks to some screw up by GC. I saw some used Dave's and ME's that I wish I had to ability to try out. But I couldn't be happier with the CU24 that I got!

So those were just offers, and you didn't take them? The OP makes it sound like you traded the Cu24 for the amp.

Congrats on your CU24, and the "screw up"! :)

haha thanks - point is, i suppose it's ok to lose a PRS ONLY if you're buying another PRS, lol. Good luck with that!

GC trade ins are pretty much a joke, unless you're getting a steal of a deal on whatever you're trading for. Their offers for gear are almost insulting. I tried to give it another go this month during their trade sale, and found out that their company policy is to offer no more than 50% of what they plan to sell the item for. I briefly considered bringing in my SE CU24 25th w/Dimarzios to put towards a 2 channel C they have on clearance, but I doubt they would've given more than $200 for it... not a good trade when I have a set of locking Grover's, new push/pull's, and $150 worth of aftermarket pickups in it.

Anyways, that is one sweet amp. I've never tried any of the high end Orange stuff, but I would really like to!

General rule of thumb is 60% of retail for an outright sell. But, I always make an argument for more when it's a trade deal and usually trade when I get around 65-70%, or when I get a reasonable discount even on a sales item.

GC offered me a whopping $1600 for a KILLER R7 Goldtop. I sold it on ebay for $2800 a couple weeks later. :)
