Quick story: I played a lot of guitar in high school and college. Then I took a 20-year "vacation"...and just recently realized how badly I wanted to get back into playing. I initially got a Baja Tele, which is a great instrument for sure. BUT I realized after a few weeks that I just not be a single-coil guy. So I started perusing humbucker guitars, and simultaneously eyeballed used Les Pauls on the market (that had always been the holy grail to me). However, every time I read a LP thread I was learning about poor craftsmanship...build quality slipping...way overpriced...etc.

Then, just about 1.5 weeks ago, I stumbled across a thread somewhere that introduced me to the PRS Bernie Marsden. First thought: "Wow, that's gorgeous! And it even looks like a Les Paul! And who is Bernie Marsden?" So I read more and more, and anywhere I looked I could NOT find a bad thing to say about it. Pretty much unanimous gushing on Sweetwater...Guitar Center...Musician's Friend...Amazon...and forums galore. So I happened to look at Guitar Center's online used section, and found one used -- listed as "excellent condition" (their top used rating)...and listed for just $489. After pondering for a bit, I said WTH and pulled the trigger.

Got it in middle of last week and fell in love immediately. And that's before any sort of set-up! It just sounds and feels so great. I also decided that I didn't need to own 2 guitars just yet and was still within my 30-day return window w/ Sweetwater, and they were helpful and gracious enough to take back the Tele for a refund.

So here I am, part of the club. In the back of my head the only change I've pondered POTENTIALLY doing down the road is dropping some Whole Lotta Humbuckers...but in zero hurry and may not do it at all.

There - that's my story. Please don't beat up the new guy.

Congrats welcome to the club had my Bernie for three years love it.Use every gig I play. Covers everything.

Welcome! Sweet looking axe, and I think they sound really nice, too.

Congrats KC...welcome to the fold with a beautiful Bernie!

That whole "not wanting to own two guitars just yet" notion will fade quickly...especially if you spend alot of time on the forum here. In fact, you might as well start planning #2 now ;)

Congrats, and welcome aboard!

But you're gonna have get a cure for that not-needing-2-guitars thing.

If I stick with playing guitar, I have zero doubt I'll own multiple guitars and amps one day. But remember - I was away for 20 years. I want to be sure this time it sticks and I do indeed play for years/decades. So it made the most sense financially for me to get one model I really like (both amp and guitar) and just play/practice/practice/play. Also, I didn't want to get sucked into some paradigm where I'm constantly fiddling with presets/pickups/knobs/switching guitars/etc -- I just want to practice and play. I feel the Bernie + the Yamaha more than accomplish what I had in my head.

So long story short -- check back with me in a year and we'll see how many I own.
