Hey All;

Went out tonite to see a really good band and had occasion to reflect on the best and most influential Rock song of all time.
Honesty, pained me, but the absolute best Rock song of all time is "Satisfaction".
There simply isn't any credible argument against it.

Cheers!

OK Mr. Smartypants.....

The gloves are off! (hahaha)

Your argument is flawed....first and foremost, you're picking the Stones? Yeah....well....

I'm not gonna turn this into a whole Top 10 list....but, if you wanted the greatest rock song ever....EVER, based on guitar solos----hands down, Comfortably Numb. Period. Not one, but TWO amazing solos for the ages.

Greatest all-round rock song?

I can't quite explain it....but I would say "Crossroads".....

I've heard the Cream version a million times....yeah, whatever. Took a new interest and fell in love with it when Rush covered it....and then was blown away when all the HOF inductees jammed on it during the 2013 RNRHOF Ceremony.

Interesting topic.

The first person that suggests ANY song by: Bon Jovi and/or Poison will get a punch in the nuts.

:)

I was gonna say this too, so I'll just +1 it :-)

Oh, what about Livin' on a Prayer!

Tough choices. My Era, coming up in the late 70's and 80's I'd go with Back in Black. Of the songs I've heard mentioned so far. They aren't even the artists best songs let alone greatest rock song ever. Of course, that's just my opinion.

i might go for Smoke on the Water....because it probably inspired a lot of great artists who wrote great songs later on.

really, you can't pick just one. there are so many

Satisfaction isn't a bad choice, but here are a few equally genre-defining songs that competed with 1965's Satisfaction during that era:

My Generation, The Who (1965)

You Really Got Me
, Kinks (1964)

Day Tripper, Beatles (1965)

If you want most influental......Tooty Fruity.....Without Little Richard you have no Chuck Berry and Without Chuck Berry you have no Rock and Roll. If you want best song it would be like picking the best grain of sand on a beach

I want to say "Breakin' the Law" but my official reply will be "Stairway to Heaven".

The Rolling Stones? Isn't that the band that has an equal number of somewhat decent song to listen to as there are strings on their lead guitarist's guitar that he actually plays?

1?!?!?

I'll give 5.

1) Every Rose Has its Thorn
2) Cherry Pie
3) Once Bitten, Twice Shy
4) Uncle Tom's Cabin
5) She's Only 17

Thanks. End of Discussion.

OK. I can't leave it at that.

For me, the best Rock song is between Time Stand Still and Spirit of Radio. Can't decide.

And their live shows rule. What's the deal with the Big Chicken??
