My band went to Eldora iowa last night to Rock-n-Row adventures for a 7-11 show. It's a camp ground that offers to take campers 8 miles up river and put them in to tube and drink back down to camp grounds, it's a hoot. Takes us 3 1\2 hours to drive there but it's a fun gig.
Once tubers make it back and they get done eating it's "game on" and boy do they party! We are able to back up to pavilion and unlaod trailer, pretty easy load out really and being outdoors sound quality can be pretty good too. Big wide open campground surrounded by trees.
Tracy and Sondra Morlan are the owners and they work very hard to make it a great experience for campers, tubers and the band. Very nice. They cooked up steaks and sweetcorn for us once we got done and loaded up, also very nice. That was our third year back there and if we are asked to come back, we will!!!!!!
One of the funniest things I got to wittness was a Diesel pickup pulling a gooseneck livestock trailer turning into the grounds. Everybody is thinking WTH???? As it turns out, group of 25 guys had bus rented to com e to Rock-n-Row but the bus co didn't show. They paid a guy to haul them there so they could still party and when they were pulling in they were ALL mooing like cows! They had couches and BBQ grill set up in there. Funny stuff.
Good gig. We have scored some 2014 shows in that area from last nights performance, even better.
