Anyone know what PRS guitar Warren Haynes was playing on the Conan O'Brian show? Looked like a silverburst SE.

I know he's been playing PRS amps but he was using a Marshall tonight.

Yep, SE Mushok Baritone action! It's weird to see Warren playing through a Marshall head. And Danny Louis soloing while Warren just strums seems backwards. :iamconfused:

Not what I expected at all from Gov't mule although I did like the song.

Yeah... he usually doesn't use Marshall cabs either...

He's been using a Marshall bottom cab in his Allman Bros rig. I wonder if they were shilling for Marshall last night, though. I haven't kept up with Mule lately, but the 100% Marshall backline is suspicious to me. When you're Warren and have Diaz and PRS gear on hand, why go for the Marshall?

Maybe the backline was supplied by the show? He usually uses all his custom made gear with Mule, PRS amps with his solo band and ABB, plus a few other heads that he trades out. Interesting change either way...

Hmm. I love his playing and tone but am not a big follower or "knower" of his usual rigs/gear but I've seen him on tv a couple times, a few years back, and he was always playing a burst into a 1959SLP. It was a pretty "signature" Paul into a Marshall tone of awesomeness.

Uhhhh...cause it's Marshall??
I've never played a Diaz or PRS amp but I have plenty of amps...old ones, new ones...and anytime I treat myself to pulling-out a vintage Marshall head...well, it's a great day.
For me, if you really want that good old Marshall "stuff"...if you don't need switching channels, cascaded gain stages, effects loops, reverb etc...if you're into that plexi or early metalface vibe, a marshall gets you right there.

And now...off I go to see what the Diaz amps are all about. Maybe I should hit the medicine cabinet first and chew-up a pair of tums or rolaids or suck on a bottle of pepto. You know...cause ALL I need is more amp GAS :-(
I BETTER not be back in a week or two with a NAD post.!
;-)

The Plexi I can definitely understand, but those were modern models last night. Watching the video this time around, I noticed Warren has a blackface Twin back there in the dark. So not an all-Marshall rig, after all. Maybe I'm just all discombobulated with this new-look Mule. I do admit to clinging to the old days of Gov't Mule.

I'm not a Marshall fan anyway, but I'd choose the Diaz, PRS or Soldano over any modern Marshall.

Totally agree. Three-piece Mule was, and will ALWAYS be, the best.
They never had that same fire after Woody passed.

I didn't get the hookup till after Woody... my first was "By A Thread" but buying everything I can find now! I think "Dose" is by far my fav... great stuff!

Oh man! I think Dose is the best overall, but the self-titled album has such awesome raw energy. After Woody died, the Deepest End albums are great. After that, they moved on as a quartet and lost most of the fire. They're still capable of brilliant moments, but they come less often than back in the day.

Why choose just one?

I think I have a shot from over the weekend of The Allman's playing Jones Beach...i didn't go....but my band's singer did....PRS amps were in force....If I can find em I'll post.

I have a thread going in the amp forum about that very topic.

I'm looking forward to the new Mule album on Sept. 24th... It will be joining the collection along with the new Dream Theater the same day. I love new music days!
