ok so here's the deal guys. I think Ce's are a quintessential Prs guitar. Right up there with custom's. I've had a couple in the past of each and let em go. Lately I've been jonesing for a CE again bad. Really really want a older one to fill out my collection but my problem is I play these guitars and tour with these guitars. I rarely buy something that I don't want to use on stage. I finally stopped using my PS as much just because i basically had it handcuffed to my wrist when it was in the case. So I found a awesome 91 ce in a Nashville shop for a decent price. Do I go that route or get the fine people at Prs to do a new CE that I get with the intention of being a awesome touring guitar that's sole job is to rawk? Let's say that the get both option is outta the question

No contest, in my opinion, Trev.

The older CE's with the thicker body and original deep carve are a steal right now. The '91 should also have a 1-piece Mann-Made trem.

I agree with Hans about the older CEs being a steal, but I think it depends on what you play. The 85/15s in the new ones sound AMAZING. I still dig the old HFS/VB (which is probably what you will find in the '91), and you can always swap out the pups, but the clarity and voice on the 85/15s are really something. I dig the satin-finish neck too. Pattern thin on the new CEs is definitely a bit beefier feeling than the old WT. I upgraded the "SE trem" on my CE with the MannMade 2000NOS, and it was a great improvement as well.

I have a 1990, 1992 and 2016 (made in 2015) CE. If I had to grab one to go on the road with right now, I'd grab the new one. YMMV.

Congrats! Looks awesome.

(Let me know if it's replacing this one....
