We played a new to us bar saturday night and it was a blast! Good crowd, good response.

I played my CE that has the Dragon 1s most of the night. I understand that if a product doesn't sell well it won't be around long but I just can't figure out why this combination didn't sell well enough to still be in production. This guitar kicks ass! This is what keeps GAS alive!

How long were the CEs in production? The Support part of the PRS site doesn't say when they were discontinued. Evidently, the site needs just a teensy bit of updating...

I broke out both my CE's this weekend and was reminded how f@ckin' Killer! they are. I feel like the neck-joint, maple neck, and those four bolts kills that midrange thing that anti-PRS dudes are always talkin' about. Just a great guitar.

Didn't the Dragon 1s go away before 2008? These pickups just kick ass and. I have a spare set of these in my parts drawer just in case.

I keep thinking I should put a mann trem on this particular guitar but I'm so afraid.of screwing up the tone. Just leveling the trem changed the tone for the worse. It was high in the bass side when I got it so when I lowered it the tone got really muddy. I ended up changing pickup screws just so I could lower the pickup.

I love my CE 24. I think it was more of an issue with product margin vs sales of the product. Compare the CE's to a custom at a high level.

- The set neck adds some labor costs but not as much as you would think. The real work is carving the neck pocket and tenant vs. how it is attached.
- How much more is maple vs. mahogany when you are buying wood in bulk? Probably not huge.
- Standard for the custom was moons not birds. I seem to remember that birds were a $300 option.
- Yes, the initial tops were more mid-grade but by the mid 90's, many of the maple tops were very nice with some "9 top" quality flame. Mine is an 8+ top with a lot of flame.

Assume 10% more cost for the custom but the I seem to remember the price being about 30% lower for the CE due to the stigma of the bolt on neck and how it was positioned in the marketplace. Lester prices for a Strattie kind of thing?
