Jeez...my 2013 has had it's share of crap!

I had to have my 12 yr old Chocolate Lab "Shandi" put down...

Then I lost my dear mother to cancer only about 4 months after her diagnosis...

Then, my girlfriend fractured her foot somehow wake boarding AND had her car go on the fritz,

And now I've had the Bell's Palsy diagnosis!!

I did see the doctor again today and he said I am responding to the treatment and says I should expect at least 90% recovery if not Total 100%, so at least there's that bit of good news. It's still going to take a couple of months probably, but he said I'm trending the right direction! Now, I'm not the most patient person so taking it easy, not being able to swing the Experience trip, having no sense of taste, etc. is wearing thin on me! The only good thing is that my Sylvester Stallone impression has never been better! LOL

There has been improvement already according to the doc, but I want to be over it NOW, not in a few weeks to a month or two. With my luck, I should be coming out of this just after the Experience is over this year!

SO I HAVE A REQUEST...

Everybody going to the Experience this year...HAVE A GREAT TIME FOR ME!

Take lots of pics/videos (especially of my "idol" David Grissom!) and share them with me since I won't be able to go. Let me "experience" Experience 2013 through you all.

Thanks to an unbelievably nice gesture from Wedge, I may end up with some Experience swag this year which will hold me over until the 2014 Experience! (Thanks again Wedge for your killer offer!)

Ok, that's all...just wanted to vent a little bit!

very sorry to hear of the loss and misfortune you've been experiencing as of lately. sending prayers that some positive things will come your way. good luck, and god bless

Man, you are having a bad year, so far. Sorry to hear about your mom, dog, gf, and the Bell's Palsy. Glad to hear you are responding to the treatment.

UNBELIEVABLE!!

you guys aren't gonna believe what happens now...and I realize that b*tching about it here doesn't do a thing, but it may help me if I vent a little bit so PLEASE, bare with me.

I wake up this morning to about 2 inches inches of water in my finished basement. I instinctively started grabbing guitars - they were on stands and the water hadn't reached them yet (I ended up with 8 inches of water before the flood stopped.)

I hauled my Custom 2-channel amp upstairs as well, but my 3-button foot switch did get soaked.

Turns out a water main busted about 7 houses up the street and water was gushing out of it for hours & hours and flowed down the street, made a left turn once it got to my driveway due to the fact that my driveway slopes down towards the house while every house between me and the busted main has a driveway that slopes UP towards each house.

Doesn't appear that my HO insurance is going to cover it (it's possible, but unless my luck makes a DRASTIC improvement it probably won't.)

I have to hope and pray that the county's insurance is going to pay up...and they should...turns out they knew it was broken last night as early as 7pm but overtime wasn't approved and they thought it wasn't bad enough that they couldn't wait until morning to fix it. When they told me that, I felt like beating the guy senseless.

I did lose a bunch of furniture, stereo system, speakers, tons of CDs and DVDs (the disks should be ok, but the covers/cases are soaked), my camera gear (which has its own insurance policy luckily so will be covered).

Wow, 2013 has been the absolute worst year of my life.

Thanks for letting me vent guys.

Yes, these things are hard to deal with.

But it's important to keep things in perspective and count your blessings, too.

Well, damn. I had to put my cat to sleep this morning. You win.

My wife had Bell's Palsy a couple of years ago. If they haven't put you antiviral drugs like Acyclovir, insist. There's research that shows that antiviral meds have the potential to reduce the duration and severity of the episode. They don't usually do that for Bell's, but it helped my wife.

Remember, the skies always darkest before......

.....it starts raining frogs.....

Take care.

Thanks guys.

Frog - I was on some antiviral stuff. My case is actually clearing up - I'm lucky in that I guess. My sense of taste hasn't come back much yet, but I can shut the affected eye now!

I got a bit of good news today though - my insurance is going to cover everything due to the kind and source of the water damage, so while it's going to be a long process to get everything back to the way it was, looks like I'm only out my 500-dollar deductible.

That's still great. Everyday a little a bit. That's just how it is recovering from an inflammatory condition of the nerves. I can remember that it was a big thing when my wife didn't have tape her eye shut to sleep or be a pirate during the day.

It's been the same with the inflammation in my spinal cord. When it started a couple years ago, I couldn't feel hot or cold on my feet and the feeling of numbness stretched up to my waist. Now, sometimes I feel normal for a little while when I wake up.

mapleleaf14,

I'm not going to get into any of the details here, but I will say that 2013 has been a rough year for me too. A lot of bad things have happened, and they seem to keep coming. Add to that the health problems I already have, and I'm ready for things to turn around, or at least ease up a little. I'm afraid that slowly but surely it's all starting to get to be almost too much...

So please know that you're not alone. It sounds like you're not about to give up or let it all get to you, and that's a good thing. Maybe the main thing. Try to stay positive, keep the faith, and hopefully things will be better soon. Meanwhile, keep playing that great collection of PRS guitars you have. (You have some really nice ones, and you managed to save them from the flood!)

Lloyd

P.S. - I'm in the same boat you're in when it comes to going to The Experience; I'd give anything to be there, but it just isn't possible. So I'm counting on seeing and hearing lots of reports from those fortunate enough to be there.

Thanks everybody!

Goldtop - rough for you too for sure! We'll make it through brother! When our luck finally turns - look out!

The cleanup company starts today thank goodness...it's a MESS. They're motto is "Like It Never Even Happened" so I'm anxious for them to do their thing.

I have temporarily set up my stuff in an upstairs room and I thought I'd play a little guitar last night, but I lost all my cables! (and of course I had just bought new Mogami Gold cables)
So I need to get a cable for the head to cab connection, and at least a cable to go from guitar to amp...eventually I'll need more for from guitar to pedal board and pedal board to amp, and then 2 more for the effects loop...but I'll be happy to at least get a cabinet cable and a guitar cable so I can play again...amplified that is! (and make sure my pedal board is still functioning properly - haven;t been able to test that yet.)

With my luck this year...those going to the Experience are probably GLAD I won't be there...who knows what would happen if I showed up!!!

Right on; it'll turn around for all of us. It has to sooner or later! And there will be another Experience next year, so who knows...?

Lloyd

Man, hope things turn around for ya! My condolences for your loss.

Thanks again everybody.

I'm not going to go into it, but it turns out, I'm not as covered as I thought - looks like some mint condition PRS guitars will be going on the auction block soon. :(

I can send you some of my extra Mogami guitar cables if you need some. Just PM me. Pay it forward.
