Give me some direction on my next guitar

I am in the beginning stages of trying to figure out what PRS guitar I will get next. I have a new Paul’s guitar and 24-08 with 58/15 mt pups in it. For context I also have a new standard 61 sg and a pro Strat.

I’’d like something that is different than what I currently have but this choice is not as easy for me as the first two I knew I wanted.

McCarty, 594, DGT, 509, semi hollow, HB. I realize I’m all over the place but I’m really not sure where to go on this.

What I am looking for is your opinion on the personalities of these and how the sound differs particularly in the McCarty family and how that would fit into the guitars I currently have.

I have an open mind on other models not mentioned.

Anything that says "McCarty" on it... and preferably even with 57/08 pickups in it--those things are amazing and just scream "Ted McCarty." Different enough from what you've got, but classic PRS nonetheless.

My recommendation FWIW would be the 594 Hollowbody II, as it could be an ideal solution for your "G-Style" and Hollowbody needs. Front and back maple caps, and also has some KILLER coil tap sounds as well.

Sound wise, I believe this would cover more of your warmer sounding needs with it has a shorter scale length and warmer sounding pickups (58/15 LT) than your Paul's Guitar and Cu24. Not sure what style of music you play, but anything from jazz, R&B, gospel, pop, and classic rock, you'd be covered!

Santana or a 594 with P-90s would be the most different from what you have :)

They're all great. I love the 594, but don't overlook the McCarty. I have a Wood Library 2020 with a tremolo that I think is pretty amazing.

However, I also have 594 and others, so...pick your poison.

The biggest difference in tonal space would be a 509 or a Hollowbody.
The hollowbody will have a very different feel, and I would go there first.

I’m also a fan of the DGT. To me it has a Texas Blues feel. And I like the dual volume controls.

Went to Birmingham today to visit my mom and several "actual" music stores around the metro area. Got my hands on a lightly used DGT. Shouldn't have done that...now I'm REALLY smitten!

Man what an amazing guitar! Sorry to hijack your thread but, if you're looking you should at least try one out. It shot straight to the tippy top of my "guitar bucket list".

I repeat...If there's any way to try one, I highly recommend you do so. Just my .02.;)

I have owned my share of the various models and currently owned a SH 594 and a 509. The 509 covers a lot of territory and for me, the most different from all the PRS models including a longer scale length, in between a standard PRS scale length and a Strat.

The SH 594 is also versatile with the split coils and having the 2 x tone and volume knobs is a really nice to have for me.

I’ve jumped in pretty deep this year. My first two were easy for me. This one is more difficult as it will be the last one for awhile. The SG and Strat were my first two and cost less than either of the PRS I got combined. Freaking bar has gotten higher and I’m going to need to play them to know. I’d like to limit my options so that’s why I poses the question knowing what I have. I didn’t know if I could eliminate one of the McCarty models based on what I have?

Dude, they’re frickin’ awesome

Given what you currently have I’d probably go with a 594 for a warmer tonal palette. Solid, semi, or full hollow variants are all good so it’s maybe just a matter of how “different” you’re going for.

If/when you have a NGD, I want “proof of life” for Big Momma!;)

I mean a photo of them together!:D
