What is the best gig bag to use with my PRS McCarty? What are you guys using?

PRS gigbag. I have 3 of em - my guitars haven't seen a case since they've been brought home.

PRS, although I did have one with a Parker case that was extremely protective - it really hugged the SE CU22 semi that I had.

PRS gig bags are nice and I also have the light version of the Mono Cases M80, the Sleeve. http://monocreators.com/guitar-sleeve/

Question about the Mono Sleeve...I noticed that the M80 case has kind of a rough-feeling fabric patch sewn in to protect the bag from the bottom of the lower bout to about the bridge area, from wear from strings, bridges etc. While that's great for the bag, I'm thinking it might cause problems for the finish of the guitar - seems like it would rub against the finish of a PRS on the lower bout and act almost like sandpaper.

But that's just a guess. What have you guys with these cases noticed in terms of finish wear?

Is this on the Sleeve also? And do you find that it's a problem for the finish (swirl marks, surface scratches, etc)?

Also, what's the PRS bag lined with?

I used gig bags when I used to build my own strat/floyd Frankenstien axes and I didn't care about finish, and i would use one for my frost blue 408, but for the same reason Les asks about, is the same reason I wouldn't use one for a 10-top.

I've noticed no damage/wear that might've been caused by the gig bag. They're lined with a nicely padded soft material that doesn't damage the finish. I've seen other gig bags that don't do nearly as good a job of protecting the guitar's finish. I really like the PRS bags.

Thanks! I've had some really nice bags in the past that protected the finish, but haven't had one for many years. However, the cases are getting to be kind of heavy for me lately!

I did once have a bag in the early 90s that scuffed up a guitar - I know I seem really fussy even asking this question, but I have a couple of Private Stocks that I admit I kind of baby.

So the PRS bags have some kind of fuzzy or cotton type material and not a nylon liner? That would be very good!

Yes it is the same on the Sleeve and I haven't noticed any wear on the guitars or bridges.
I kind of like it to be honest and I have used the gig bag with Floyd equipped guitars and doesn't create any problems to the fine tuners etc...

I've got a mondo and I like it. A friend uses a humble 'gator and he does way more gigs than me.

I don't remember it being rough at all. I can inspect mine when I get home. I have a Mono Dual and love it. I know Gian carries his PS in a Mono as well. These are high end bags made for the real world, pretty reputable company. I have to believe they did their research with materials to not damage instruments.

Thanks Vaughn! I've checked them out, and they are very, very well made bags. My only concern was that patch on the bottom bout, but if folks aren't having issues, I'll probably get one.

When I had two PS guitars. I stored and transported both in a Mono Dual gig bag with no issues at all. No scratches, etc. It was really convenient to carry two guitars at once. Never did I feel like my guitars were not protected. Those Mono M80 gig bags are top quality and tough! Now I own two of them.

I have several of the OLD PRS gig bags, which were similar to the Old SE bags, only nicer. Great bags. I also have 2 Levy's Leather bags. One is really soft and broken in. I love it. The other, a bit stiffer. Not nearly as high a grade of leather. But I stole it at a GC sale, so I don't mind. Both are heavily padded.

The stiffer leather probably protects the guitar better against bumps, so there's that.
