Greetings all. I'm a working guitarist. Saturday (2/1), I bought a McCarty 594 Semi-hollow. I've did a couple jobs with it this weekend and I like the guitar, but the case is very heavy. I'd like to use this instrument for a lot of work, but the weight of the case makes it a hassle.

I searched this forum before posting (so forgive me if I missed it), and did not find an answer. Could someone recommend a sturdy gig-bag for this guitar?

Thanks - Dan S.

Thank you all. Now that I'm looking what you've posted, I think I should have said something more along the lines of "a soft-shell case" than a gig bag. More along the lines of the Mono/Gator cases than the PRS gig-bag.

[I have to post this before I can post a link - apologies for chewing up bandwidth]

It appears to me that a standard Les Paul-style soft case would fit this instrument?

I've used the Gator ProGo for a few years now. I carry whichever guitar was chosen for the gig (594, CU22, strats...). Great bag. My PRS cases live under the bed. I have a buddy with a couple of the Mono products and I find the Gator to be very competitive.

It appears that either of these would fit the bill (or rather, fit a McCarty 594 double-cutaway semi-hollow)?

Yes. I like the Mono. I have been hauling two 513s, and recently two 594s, in a Mono dual electric case for a couple of years now, and it works fine. I wouldn't trust a soft case in a trailer or checked in on a flight, but if you are carrying it with you in the car or keeping it as carry-on, they work great.

This is great. Thank you all. This has been very helpful!

I would prefer to have the Gator case, due to the double layer of padding at the bottom - the Mono case has a good thick pad, but the Gator just looks more substantial.

But I think either would do the trick for you.

BTW.... I should probably mention, here's the piece, from Tom (pictured) & Jesse at Ish Guitars in Syracuse.

I don’t know if they’re available separately but the S2 gig bags are surprisingly good. I’d have no worries transporting my precious 594 in one... if it ever left my house :)

With all these gig bag question popping up, I'm going to start a gig bag company. Gonna call it................

Blivit (guitar) Bags.

:p

Apologies. I did search for gig bags on this forum and came up empty handed.
