Getting replaced sucks

SAG rates net the singer about $60-80,000 on a national ad that runs for a halfway decent length of time, 26-52 weeks. Same with V.O. Talent (though famous voices earn much more). On-screen performers make a substantial amount more, with famous talent endorsers once again making a boatload.

I bought all of my PRS’, including Private Stocks, with a fraction of my quarterly AFM and SESAC royalty earnings, not including the composing or production fees clients pay direct, which are of course far more important to my livelihood.

So, yeah, not chump change, and far more than picks and strings…. ;)
The Picks And Strings Was Tongue In Cheek...Plus I Figured With Your Age You Would Have The SAGgy Part Down Like The Rest OF Us...LOL. ;)

Guitar playing for worship was the hardest least rewarding experience I may have had in my life.
learning often 5 new songs a week with 1 hour of group practice.
Na never again , in fact volunteering for church anything ( home rebuilding , outreach , projects etc ) often ended in headaches and frustration
I give my time to folks that appreciate it !!!

My two brothers always tell me I need to loosen up and know when people are serious or joking! They’re right of course. Half the time I have no clue. 😂

Gotta see how everything shakes out with some current projects before I do anything with gear.

I got suddenly busy with an ad campaign and have my hands completely full. Which, of course, is GOOD. But a little stressful.

Not necessarily disagreeing on the role of a "band leader." But again, the worship leader is on staff, and in charge of the worship team and all those on that team are volunteers. So they don't get to vote on who he adds to the team. And again, our boy here WAS NOT removed from his position. So all the people saying he was treated wrong and all this... he is a volunteer that QUIT. His worship leader didn't ask him to leave. Adding more musicians in this context IS NOT doing something wrong to him or anyone involved.

We all agree that if the guy pushed him to quit, he'd be in the wrong and we'll all want to sic Sergio on him. But, HE DIDN'T. And he can add other musicians and singers to that team as he sees fit, and nobody involved has a right to be offended by those moves.

I have talked to people who are at churches that "hire a band." IN this case, which is rare, we would all agree again that it was wrong if the worship leader wanted someone out. AND, the band who came into the church "as a band" WOULD get to vote and tell him if they didn't agree with his decision... but this is simply not the context of what we're talking about here. We all want to support our brothers and sisters here. Me more than most! But his worship leader adding another guitar player is not wrong to him in any way in the context of what we know here. Too many people are reacting in assumption that either A) he was going to fire him or B) this is a regular band and an outsider is messing with the band members. In this context, neither are true, or at least, we do not yet know if the first one is true.
Church! Errrr… I mean Preach! Errrr… I mean…

I agree 100% with Howie (which rarely happens).

I agree that it is rather hard work. Sunday I am scheduled and it was exactly like that. 5 songs, about one hour practice.

However difference is that we are kind of appreciated ;-).

I've been playing at church since 2009. Started off on bass and have been playing just guitar since 2018.

These days it's pretty good. While we have varying degrees of talent, nobody comes to practice unprepared. This wasn't always the case in the past. I recall one time when the songs for a particular service were posted online a whole month in advance. This was great because I was working huge hours at the time so I came to practice fully prepared and then some. Can't say the same for the guitar player at the time. He didn't know any of the songs. Didn't work on them at all. ("What? Dude, you had a whole month!!") He had the chord charts with him but didn't know the specific parts that needed to be played. To one degree or another this was pretty much standard procedure with him. That Sunday service was a train wreck. Absolutely embarrasing. What killed me was he had plenty of technical ability. It's not that he couldn't play because he could play and play well.....when he wanted to. He eventually left on his own.

We've had a few other players throughtout the years who just didn't try and were asked to leave.

At our church, our worship leader doesn't expect absolute perfection from anybody. But he does ask that you come prepared and are able to play the songs from start to finish. If there's any rough spots he glady goes over them with the person having trouble. It's a very relaxed approach but it works well because people come prepared. No one gets on anybody because we all know that while some players at church are better than others, none of us are "master musicians" so to say. We're all very aware of what we can do and what we can't. So yeah, it's good!

Thank God For Isaiah 53 And Matthew 8:17, Etc :)
That’s why I qualified it with “from a music standpoint.” But I think Mustaine would have had his alcohol and other issues whether or not he stayed in Metallica. In fact, I think it was those issues that caused him to be booted in the first place.
