One of the all-time greats. I was in the house band at George's Possum Holler club in Nashville back in late-'78, and got to play behind him quite a few times, including one night when he was supposed to be doing a show with his road band somewhere in Alabama, and instead turned up at the Possum Holler and played with us! "No-Show Jones", indeed...
A lot of people back then thought he was on his way down for the last time, but he turned his life around and went quite a few more years. I wish he could have had a few more, but none of us last forever--his music will, though, I hope!
