Fret Dots on Santana III - only 1 dot at Fret 12?

I have a new-to-me 2001 Santana III. Regarding the neck dots - I'm referring to the navigation dots or fret finder dots on the "upside" of the fretboard, not on the fretboard itself where there are birds or moons

Anyway - at fret 12, where I expect to see 2 dots - I just have one. I've seen all kinds of stuff like that on other guitars but never on a PRS

Is this unusual? Any info at all ?

It's normal for older PRS. It threw me off the first time I saw it. I regrettably didn't buy it either. I still kick myself over that CE.

Sometime between 2002 and 2007. Your 2002 has one, my 2007 Westie has two.

My 2004 has a single dot, my 2006 has two dots at 12.

My 2001 models (McCarty & Standard 22) both feature single dots at the 12th fret. My 2006 CE-24 features double dots. According to the PRS book the first model to get the double dots was the 2005 513 Rosewood with the rest of the core lineup following on. I have to say that I think I prefer the single dot.

Searched for some 2005 PRS listings on Reverb, all had one dot. Both my 2006 PRS have two dots, so I guess 2006 was the year it made it across model lines.
