I saw this mentioned on the Hamer board and thought I'd pass it on to folks here.

There is an orchestral instrument from Sonokinetic called Vivace Legacy that is available for free today and tom'w. Looks like it uses Kontakt Player, which is the free version.

Zero affiliation, but I'm probably going to grab this.

Thanks for posting this. It appears that their Legacy library is still free as I write this today (Dec 18). Based on the demos it sounds very good indeed.

I wasn't aware of this company before! I think their sets of tuttis and orchestral effects are pretty interesting, and I may give one a go, though they're not freebies.

Another one that's free that might interest you is Spitfire Audio's BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover set. I've tried this and again, it sounds pretty darn great, though I have most of their other (not free) libraries and needed to make room on my SSDs for other stuff so I didn't hang onto it.

A really cool feature of this library is that you can download a free set of orchestral templates for most of the popular DAWs; I'm a big believer in templates that can be called up for various types of work (for example, I have a general purpose template, an orchestral template, a rock template, etc). The templates can be modified for other libraries, so they're a very good starting point for orchestral or other film scoring.

Might be something for the future...
According to both Loop Quantum Gravity (among some String Theory physicists) and Emergent Time (among different physicists), time does not exist. Therefore, there is no future.

Don't ask me to explain these theories, I just read short articles about this stuff.

So you're in luck! Either you already own this stuff or never will, but in either case it's already been decided even though you can't perceive it.

However, it's reassuring to speculate that at some point in the universe, that time I tripped with that gorgeous girl from my psych class and got lucky is happening at this very moment because it's always happening! :)

"She's a grandma now, Les."

"These theories say she was a grandma then, too, but I could only perceive her as a young person, AND I'M FINE WITH THAT!!!" ;)

Free Orchestral Thongie?
Why that's my newest single.

BTW, thanks @alantig for sharing. I love any orchestral samplers/vst's/thongies. I had Garritan for years, but lost it since I moved into the new PC. I did pick up Joshua Bell Violin a couple months ago...damn. Beautifully made.
