Freakin BOTS!!!

I run some forums for a few different clubs and deal with it too. Real people go through and register the accounts to defeat the anti-spam mechanics and then feed those accounts into the software to make the posts. They sign up for email accounts as fast as they get blacklisted. It's really not that bad here. In the clubs I mentioned we went to a members only model and there is at least 1000 attempts every week per club. These are 100-200 member sorts of things. Scale that up to the size of this forum and it being public and it's amazing so few get through.

I think it's BS you guys keep reporting those nice folks. I'm always on the lookout for nice deals on sunglasses, imposter Gucci handbags, and Viagra.

This is coming in after the East coast gang is asleep.
Maybe add a West coast mod to take down the spamtards at night?

Sorry about this. There is definitely an uptick. And yes, we run two different anti-spam/bot software packages. I'll work on looking at more options now.

Wow, 7 1/2 pages of spam posts since the last legitimate one. Guess spammers don't take weekends off... :\

Oh my gosh, these few new ones are work than the guy I mentioned the other day.
Too hard to go through this section to see posts I have not read yet.

I do think we need a West coast slayer since these are being posted around 11 PM Easter time.
They started showing up around 8 PM my time, PST.

There seems to be a few different ones last night, but this due takes top scores with 101 posts.

Arghhhhhhhh, four more pages from overnight.

I know a few forums that had to go to a member being approved first by having the Admin look at the account before activating it.
That is one way to stop spam, but a PITA if you have a lot of legit members signing up daily.
