Was able to scap up a Fralin Domino pickup from an EGII. I want to wire it into one of my custom 24s in the neck space. Anyone know the specific wires of this pickup? Has Red, Black, and shield (shield or outside braid under the grey insulation) which I assume goes to ground like usual.

I heard these pickups sound cool.

Thanks

Looks like red is hot because it comes from the coil, whereas black is connected to another wire that goes off to the side along with the bare wire, grounding the metal bits. The black wire in the middle is just connecting the end of one coil to the start of another coil.

I can't really tell what version CU24 you have based on your avatar, but if you have a rotary switch this won't work correctly. You'd need to convert it to McCarty wiring. If you have a blade switch you would need to do some finagling to get that working, and it would be different coil combos from stock.

Thanks for reply. The CU24 I'll try it in has 3-way toggle and pushpull tone pot. I called Fralin co. and emailed them, they need to speak to Lindy but the person I talked to said same as you that red wire will be hot, and he believes black wire is for an out of phase option. NOT confirmed yet. The gentalmen said the pickup is before his time LOL man I'm feeling old.

Thanks for reply, I'll keep everyone posted.

Doesn't matter much, really. I'd start with red as hot and black as ground. If you're out of phase with the bridge pickup, just swap them the other way around. Done.

Shield always goes to ground.

I'm still looking for a Domino Pick Up to restore my 1992 EG2.. somebody had replaced the neck domino with a Humbucker.
I tried emailing Lindy Fralin but didn't get any response

Call him. Lindy doesn't ever seem to respond to emails.

This didn’t fit in the guitar I want to put it in I don’t want to modify the guitar so it’s available. P.m. me

2nded. He once spent a half hour on the phone with me. I said something to the effect of "I can't believe you spent all this time on the phone with me" and he said he was on a headset and was winding pickups the whole time he was talking to me. I can't imagine winding pickups and typing emails at the same time.
