PRS did. That is what the very first SEs looked like. The Santana SE. Not sure when the body style of the SE Santana changed to mirror the Signature version.
 
No. From what I remember, the original SE was called 'Santana' more because Mr. Santana wanted "students" to have access to a quality guitar. That obviously was in conjunction with what PRS (the company) was already planning/thinking. Those are GREAT playing guitars....
 
Yeah this is how I remember the original SEs looked. I wasn't sold on the styling and I couldn't really get my head around the Santana name even though it looks nothing like the Santana models. It does make more sense to me now. Remember , SE stands for Student Edition! It's those slanted inlays though, looked wrong then, looks wrong now. Dots would have been better.
