Looking to buy my first PRS in the $2,000 or less range. I own an American Strat and Les Paul. PRS would be a great next ride. Suggestions?

New, you can land any S2 model and most CE24s. Used, pretty much any PRS model but a 594 and certain limited runs are out there around that price point. I personally want to try a new Vela at some point in time, those just seem rad as heck.

Wise counsel above. To help us help you, answer some questions. With a budget of $2000 you are either in the used market for a Core or after an S2 or maybe the CE24 if you can go over the limit for the taxes. Which of these most appeals to you?

Leaning toward CE. I've played an SE and thought it was sweet. CEs are beautiful too. Taking my time.

You don't need suggestions. You've got the right plan. :)

You've got a Strat and a Les Paul, the default starting point then without knowing anything else is probably a used Custom 22 - the archetypal PRS. but there are loads of flavors of PRS to go from there depending if you want to go nearer to the Strat or the Les Paul end, modern or vintage, blues rock or metal etc.

I'd look used personally. A lot of gems out there for 2K and less. I got my Custom 24 Brazilian and my SC245 Artist Package each for around $2K

SE's are cool... and you don't have to spend a ton on them, but... personally I hear a difference between and SE and CE. CE's are US made and the craftsmanship is second to none. If you've budgeted about 2k for a guitar... I would lean way more towards a CE! I have one... it's amazing!
