Here's a first attempt at filming our practice session. Lots of things need attention and change...but the audio quality is good and the camera quality is getting better.
This is a rather long video and we just hit "record" and let the camera roll. The audio was taken off the mixing board with no post mixing or tweaking. BTW, the "good" audio starts around 3:00, as I used some of the "camera audio" so you could hear us talking. Down the road, probably some louder talk back mics...will see.
That said...we are trying to build up this YouTube channel and would VERY much appreciate subscribing, comments, likes...all that stuff that youtubbers always clamor about. PLEASE share this or pass it along. That stuff really does helps the channel. When YouTube sees that stuff, it recommends the channel, to people "surfing" Youtube...and that helps amazingly. It could help a video by 1000% easily, as far as getting views. I've seen it for fact on my other channel(s).
But as a two man praise effort, we feel things are going positively in all our attempts. We are starting to figure out each other "musically" and learning how to tweak and hear things as we practice more and more. And of course, "when two or more are gathered...." So...we DO believe that.
Thanks in advance.

You guys sound terrific. Seriously.

Well that is my style.
Really like hearing I Am Free. That one’s been retired for a while. Nice rendition.

I was wanting some reverb on the vocals. They sounded totally dry. (I also was wishing for some more vocalists for some harmony, but that’s neither here nor there) Great playing. It’s never easy being the only guitar on songs that feature both lead and strumming, but you picked your spots well and your note choices and timing were tasty. Be careful with effect saturation. Sounds great in the practice room and on a recording, but live, it might turn mushy. In my experience, for live opportunities, less is often more. Also, I think (my wife would argue that point) that the guitar would blend nicer with just a touch less volume.
I’m hoping (if you so desire) that some others will join up with you two and fill in with some drums, bass and vocals. You two deserve that.

Thanks. I enjoyed that. 👍

Perfect feedback that is most helpful. Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

Cool video!

Recording rehearsal or live shows can be useful.

I had a drummer argue with me when I complained we were playing everything too fast. He was dug in......so instead of trying to convince him verbally I started recording shows.

He was quick to admit we were in fact way too fast after listening to the recordings.

Personally I have always been against posting rehersal videos. But I'm probably in the minority on that.

Maybe turn around so we can see the guitar? But seriously, if you plan on posting these for people to watch you should consider having both of you facing the camera.

Nice job.

Yeah...I quickly realized that. Just turned on the camera and "kinda" forgot about it. Need to re-arrange the room to do that...and as asked... "looking for slack" being a first attempt filming practice.
However PLEASE keep up with the suggestions. I figure if people don't want to watch practices, they can scroll on by, but I'm finding more interest with the "behind the scenes" than expected. Infact the YouTube channel hopes to show more about using specific setups, how to arrange, mix...maybe even film with both people facing the camera!! lol...thanks, man!

There are a lot of “performance” things, that don’t translate all that well to practice. Things like heavy verb on voices, when you need to not only sing, but talk through things, camera angles, the mix, etc. I watched on through last night, as I was only able to watch a few minutes the first time.

So, nobody expects a profession mix, perfect camera angles, perfect performance, etc. on this type of video. I thought this sounded very good for a live, during practice, recording.

Keep It Authentic And Do It The Way That It Works Best For You. If People Can't Partake Of The Meat And Spit Out Any Possible Bones It Is On Them. You Will Never Please Everybody So Do What You Do And Have No Regrets. The Right People Will Appreciate It And The Others Will Not Be Around Long Anyway No Matter How Much You May Cater To Them. It I A First Attempt At Filming The First Practice...This Isn't A Multi Million Dollar Movie Production People...Lighten Up. Catch That Anointing They Are Providing And Enjoy It! :)

Hmmm…

I saw nobody being overly critical. What I did see, and participated in, was some friendly helpful advice. And they were thankful for it and requested more. 😎

Great job! I very much enjoyed the jam y'all had going in the closing minutes. I did not watch the video end to end, but I thought it sounded really good!! Congrats on making it happen and keep stepping forward with whatever your heart tells you to do ;~)) You are one of the few here who is at least sharing what they are doing musically which I find to be the most important part of guitar ownership ;~))

In the suggestion box, I am going to note that you will look better with IEM's rather than a full set of cans ;~))
