Have any of you guy's sold any of your PRS's, only to buy them back down the road? I sold my 2009 Custom 24 back in the fall of 2021. A little voice in my head told me after I sold it, "you shouldn't have done that." and for the past month I've been thinking alot about that guitar. Luckily I had saved some pretty detailed pictures of the guitar with the serial number and hang tag. I ended up putting a posting on my local Craigslist to see if I can locate it. I also tried the PRS owners page of Facebook, but due to, to many scammers they took the post down. Are their any other resources that you guy's would recommend me trying to increase my luck?

I did that with a SCHBI years ago. Fortunately, I knew the guy pretty well I made the trade with and bought it back so he could buy a silver sky what they came out.
Unfortunately I sold it thru a local music store. So I have no way to track it down other than what I posted on CL.

This May Be A Huge Stretch But Depending On Your Relationship With The Store You May Reach Out To Them And See If They Would Be Willing To Play Middle Man And They Could Possibly Contact The Owner To See If There Is Any Interest And If So Have The Owner Contact You? Worth A Try And You May Get Lucky.

Yes. I’ve done this multiple times!!! Mainly because I typically sell to my local dealer. I’ve rebought some months later only to resell them down the road again :p

My best find was my current avatar, a S2 594 thinline. I bought it new from an online dealer as a custom color release. I sold it to local dealer after owning it for a few months. I was convinced I loved the singlecut 594 better, so I sold it. A year later I really missed it, and had sold off my singlecut as it didn’t inspire me anymore. So I went searching for a Thinline in this rare color, and lo and behold, I find my exact same guitar being sold in a GC in Texas, about 1,800 miles away. I bought it again, and thanks to a mistake on GC part, got free shipment. It is everything I remember, but even better after I did mods that have made me fall in love with it even more.

I could have purchased other used thinlines. The GC price was very competitive to used market prices. But I really wanted this color. I waited a few weeks, and I did manage to track down another red Smokeburst, but the guy kept taking his sale down and then reintroducing it. I nearly pulled the trigger too. But then I found my old guitar. I knew it played amazingly. So why chance it again on something I may regret and sell? I bought my old guitar within a day of finding it for sale.

I certainly have pricier axes, and those with prettier woods, hardware, and finishes. But this is the one that hangs on my PRS floating guitar stand. It’s what I reach for first, despite being “just an S2”. It was meant to be. I’ve invested so much into this guitar now. And I have zero regrets. This is how it was always meant to be. It has some bumps and bruises from all the travel and will earn it’s relic great with time! I won’t be making a mistake of selling this guitar again. I’ve learned my lesson.

I did it once, with a CS LP Special, though, not PRS.

I didn't seek it out, but saw it on Reverb about 3 years after trading it towards a different guitar.

I bought it back, but ended up selling it again. It was a good reminder that there's usually a strong reason when you sell something the first time and to just let it go.

I actually don't have a relationship anymore with the store that I sold it to. It's a franchise music store. I quit shopping there about a year ago b/c I got tired of the fakeness that went on there with the owner of the store and his good cop, bad cop/hipster mentality that he displays in the store. Every deal, or every purchase you made there, was like being a version of Pawn Stars.

I guess the best I can hope for is that it's still local, and the current owner sees my ad and reaches out.
No words of wisdom here. But, good luck!
Thanks
I saw a fellow on here did a NGD for my old beat up 97 CE-22 standard with dragon 1's that he got for cheap on reverb from the guy I traded it to. Should not have let that one go. It was beat, but a great guitar. Worth even having the PTC refinish and refret/modernize.

Here's the one that got away. https://forums.prsguitars.com/threads/ngd-ce-22-help-dating-info.35850/
I scrolled thru that forum. Did that guy ever reach out to you at all?

You have a very valid point.
I'm going to sell my SC58. It's a "better" guitar than my Bernie Marsdens but I don't enjoy playing it as much as I enjoy playing them.

I don't think I'll regret it.

My favorite Bernie. It's a hard act to follow.
Those guitars are beauties. I'm a sucker for Singlecut's.
I actually prefer the latest updates to the Custom 24 over the ones that were made in 2009. Just a thought
Other than the 5 way selector switch, what other updates are on current CU24's vs the 2009 models?

Let see, the ones I wish I had back:

Korina Mira with Birds
‘09 Satin Standard 24 with Birds
‘90 Studio with Birds (still got dibs Sergio ;) )
‘12 Signature Limited
‘06 Swamp Ash Special with Birds and Squabbin 57/08’s
‘06 Satin Standard 22 with Birds
NF3
Vela with Birds

Honorable mentions:

‘91 Standard 24 in Electric Blue & Birds
Mira X
Custom 22 Soapbar Limited Run
DC3 with Birds

I wish I had all of them back, just so I could sell them at today’s used prices!

Seriously, though, there are a few I likely should have held on to but I don’t really regret moving on. I’ve found that, when I’ve sold something I later missed, identifying that special trait just refined the list of what I did or didn’t want in my next purchase. Through the process I’ve arrived at a pretty happy place with what I have.
